Monitor Video Capturing

Bowser

Tribe of Judah StarCraft Series Chapter Leader
Hey, I'm looking for a program that can capture everything on your monitor for a few seconds and transfer it to a video file. I know some sort of program like this exists, but I have no idea where to find it. I'm not too worried about compression, but it needs to be a good picture quality and should be able to record at about 10-25 frames per second.

Ok, thanks a ton..but I still have some questions.

I dled both FRAPs and Screencorder. I need whatever program I'm using to record gameplay, but I can't seem to get either to work the way I need it to.

Screencorder won't let me tab into a game once it starts recording, so unless I can figure out how to fix it then it's out of the question.

FRAPs works really well, and in fact I was very impressed with it. However, my video editing program (Pinnacle Studio 9.1) will only work if it's encoded with NTSC instead of PAL... or whatever (I don't understand that). Pinnacle will open .AVI, which is what FRAPs saves its videos in, but Pinnacle will tell me that it's not enabled for PAL.

So, my questions are - 1) can I change a setting in Pinnacle to enable PAL 2) can I change the way FRAPs records so that it will record in NTSC 3) can I use WME or VirtualDub to change PAL to NTSC? Also, is this something I can simply change on my monitor or graphics card? I have an ATI Radeon 9600 btw.

Here's what I'm trying to do: I need a digital video recording of gameplay. The DV can be in three formats: AVI, MPG, or MP2 (preferably whichever is the best quality), and apparently needs to be in NTSC. I'm asking for good FPS, and if it can record audio as well then that's a major plus.

well PAL is something use in europ and ntsc u can use WME to encode the video into ntsc first and then use pinnacle I would assume that something like pinnacle might use ntcs but in this case you have to convert the movie file

There should be an option in Pinnacle to change it to NTSC I would think with such a nice program o_O and as far as video card there is nothing to change

for my video editing I use vegas video 5 if u'd like just msg me on msn and I'll discuss it with you :)
