My introduction...!

(I realized I wrote alot, so there is a TLDR for those of you who don't feel like reading it all :D)

Hey guys, my name's Kyle and I'm a Christian who thoroughly enjoys playing video games. As I've matured in my faith, I've began to question the way I live my life more and more and have began wondering how my video gaming effects and relates to my personal walk with Christ.. and the worlds.

I've recently began to realize that God can in fact be glorified through video games. Although video games aren't exactly a great means for communication at all times, the way I act and the things I say in the games actually has the potential to show God's love to others and glorify our Lord.

For instance... ganking in WoW is something I did all the time when I first began playing (4 or 5 years ago). My excuse was that "it's a video game.. not real life- I can kill people as much as I want because if they don't like it, they can just quit the game"... as I have matured, I've realized that ganking while in game is no different than bullying someone in real life- the feelings felt are still the same as the one getting ganked and the one doing it.

So, just a week ago, I made a vow with my accountability group to pray before I game, every time; praying that I can glorify God through it and that I can somehow show his love through the time I spend(needless to say, I got weird looks from my friends because they just can't relate). Just yesterday night I was able to get into a conversation with a team mate during a L4D2 game that kind of befriended me and I told him that one of the reasons I don't smoke was because I have Jesus. Although that isn't anything huge, I think it's so important to be unashamed of Christ, and I've really been working on becoming open about my faith... I love God :D

Anyways... I'm 18 years old, planning on going to Indiana Wesleyan University for Christian Ministry next fall and I have been looking for Christian gamers that are able to challenge and encourage me for quite a while.

I would REALLY love to talk about ways to outreach in games like WoW (which I reactivated for the free 7 days last week) or even in L4D2; to try to figure out how we can truly glorify God through our time spent in video games.

Oh.. also, I love Christian rap and have only been listening to it for about half a year. If you haven't heard any before, please give it a try! I have always disliked rap, but after I started listening to Christian rap, I've really began to appreciate and enjoy rap (aside from secular rap). Lecrae is my favorite artist.. check him out!

TLDR: My name is Kyle, play L4D2, TF2, and WoW atm, and I'm happy to have found a Christian gaming community and hope I can get connected here!

Thanks!! Feel free to send me an e-mail or whatever.. would love to get to know you guys! (duckstaped[at]aol[dot]com)

Welcome aboard :) . You may want to join our clan at http://toj.cc/toj.php?x=main if you have not done so already. Once you've joined tell us your steam name so we may add you to the Toj group. My steam nick is [toj.cc]The Mighty Gerbil. Even if you don't want to join up we welcome you to the forums :).

There are groups in the forums for all the games you've listed so just look around :) (WoW, TF2, and L4D). My particular interest is TF2 which has game nights Tuesday's at 8:30 central. It is open to everyone so come on out even if you do not join Toj (server 8.12.19.2:27015 more info is here http://www.cgalliance.org/forums/showthread.php?t=24626. L4D nights are Wednesdays though you will probably need to be a member of the steam group to tell when a game is happening.

In addition to Tribe of Judah, other Christian Gamers Alliance affiliates have groups for the games you play.

Christian Crew has multiple Team Fortress 2 servers and a large roster of active players. Christ-Centered Game Reviews (CCGR) also runs a TF2 server.

The Forgiven is another Alliance member-group with an active World of WarCraft guild. The Forgiven are based on Terenas. If you decide to roll a character to join TF in the next 9 days, send a tell to Sulevar, my Night Elf Druid.

EDIT: I say 9 days because my time in Azeroth is almost up.

Tribe of Judah's two WoW guilds are Redeemed (Alliance faction on Stonemaul) and Mustard Seed Conspiracy (Horde faction on Blade's Edge). My characters in Redeemed are Hevel (Dwarf Rogue) and Cadell (Gnome Warlock). I play as Rutendo (Orc Shaman) in MSC.

As far as I know, Tribe of Judah is the only Christian gaming group with a chapter for Left 4 Dead and L4D2.

I believe most Gods Frozen Chosen members play Guild Wars and Counter-Strike: Source, though I could be mistaken.

Sounds awesome. I just got the BF2 package with some of my friends which looks like it could hold some good fun for a while... I will do my best to be there on tuesday and wednesday although most wednesdays I have a bible study I go to! Thanks
