My reign of terror is over!

Hey All!

I've been GL for a really really long time, I think the longest stretch in Redeemed history! It's been a blast, and I thank God for allowing me to lead and serve such a cool group of people for the past few years!

With leadership comes the good and the bad. We've had some great times, and our share of drama. The past few months the drama has been getting to me, and I noticed I've been avoiding the forums like the plague! Subconsciously about a month ago, i mentally checked out as GL.

I tried for a while to stick with it. It takes a certain type of person who lead a huge guild like Redeemed. There are times the head honchos need to have a firm hand, there are times we have to be a shoulder to cry on, there are times we have to admit wrongs, and times we have to stand firm behind decisions we may not agree with. My fear has been "Handing over the keys" to someone new.

Like it or not, guild leader elections are generally a popularity contest. My concern was that the wrong person would be elected. As Jad mentioned in his post, he's been going through really hard stuff as well, and I knew he was past the point of burn out. This compounded the feeling of an obligation to stay.

So a week ago, I talked with Icthus, and asked him to come back and officiate an election to fill my spot. As you may know Icthus is TOJ's MMO lead. Icthus agreed to run the election, and is bringing FJ back to help! In talking more with Jad, he has been feeling the same things I had been. Rather than having one of use leave, then a few weeks/months later start the whole process over, and replace the other, we decided it was best to just rip the band-aid off quickly.

So the bottom line is this, Jad and I are going to step down from the GL position. Jad and I had lunch with Icthus today and outlined the process to elect new GL's. Icthus will roll this out in greater detail later this week, but I can tell you I am super comfortable the election will not be a popularity contest, Icthus is going to put candidates through a grueling interview process. :D

I don't want to give too much away, but be prepared for some significant changes in leadership, discipleship, and raiding. I'm excited for all the changes we have in store!

first in a soon to be epic thread!

Hey brother about time eh?
Thanks for all you have done and will still do, Redeemed still has a long future ahead of it and you have played a massive part in setting it up. Much love!

According to the records Tree, you retired 2 days before the date regulated by the "Redeemed Guild Leaders Compensation Act" signed into law two days after I stepped down from GL. That means you do not qualify for guild funded retirement. Sorry bud, but them the rules. I guess you'll have to stick around for a bit.

Hmm, part of me really wants to break the SS out of you promising you and Jad weren't going anywhere from a month ago, but a lot has happened in that month so I wouldn't hold ya to it anyways, if I even took one of it.

I'm not entirely thinking you are going to have many volunteers if you keep advertising its a "grueling interview process" though. Maybe advertise it as a position of wealth and power <yea yea I know it isn't true>.

Thanks Tree. Praying for a peaceful transition in leadership.

Oh and for the record, I spammed you before you were guild leader, so don't expect it to stop now....its not that easy.

Thanks Tree for all your service and efforts, you are very much loved even if Galatians is not around to spam your Tree welcome lately when you log on!

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Free spicy talbuk if you stay.

Think about it.

You were a great leader Tree, I thank you for all you did (while I was part of Redeemed), and I am sure you did great things, and were a great leader when I was gone...enjoy the less stress and even though I am not longer part of Redeemed, I feel a bit of sadness no longer seeing you as a GL...you inspired me in many ways while I was with Redeemed... Good Job man...good job! :)

As long as you're not leaving Redeemed/the game Im cool :P Thanks for everything Tree :) You're the best....and you dont need any retirement when you're already rich! Though I think you're more of a bankrupt bank from handing out too many loans lol

the first person to welcome me to redeemed and give me 16 slot bags to welcome me. you have always been helpful and a good friend. thx my friend. you make WoW a ton of fun.

Wow! I am saddened to see you leave leadership, but if you will stay in game and continue to hang with us, I accept it. And that means both of you.

Oh - I never did get my bags... are they lost in the mail??? Just kidding! Your rescuing me several times means a lot ot me. How could I ask for more? Easily! Thats how! hehe But really - one of the great things about this guild is the stick-together-ness of not only Jad and Tree - but of the whole group! Some things you cannot change: the love of Christ being lived through you. Well it could be changed - but that gets into a theological discussion I ain't starting and I don't wanna see it practiced! Anyway, keep your stick-to-it-ive-ness and keep your fellowship hot and heavy with us!

Love ya!

Tree, i've had a blast with you as leader since i've been here, great times and hopefully alot more great times to come. Thanks for being guild leader and i've enjoyed your leadership very much. Thx for everything =)
<Wrath>

Nobody can know what a guild leader goes through, except God and the guild leader themself. It is a tremendously tedious, sometimes thoughtless, continually frustrating, yet also very rewarding job. Tree, you are awesome. I don't believe anyone could truly do a good job w/o the Love of God in their hearts. There is a reason there is a time limit on the position. It's time for Tree to 'PLAY' again and for the others as well. All have done an awesome job.

Now we need prayers for the upcoming decisions for new officers/guild leaders etc. May God bless everyone in Redeemed. It takes us all to make it run.
