Hey All!
I've been GL for a really really long time, I think the longest stretch in Redeemed history! It's been a blast, and I thank God for allowing me to lead and serve such a cool group of people for the past few years!
With leadership comes the good and the bad. We've had some great times, and our share of drama. The past few months the drama has been getting to me, and I noticed I've been avoiding the forums like the plague! Subconsciously about a month ago, i mentally checked out as GL.
I tried for a while to stick with it. It takes a certain type of person who lead a huge guild like Redeemed. There are times the head honchos need to have a firm hand, there are times we have to be a shoulder to cry on, there are times we have to admit wrongs, and times we have to stand firm behind decisions we may not agree with. My fear has been "Handing over the keys" to someone new.
Like it or not, guild leader elections are generally a popularity contest. My concern was that the wrong person would be elected. As Jad mentioned in his post, he's been going through really hard stuff as well, and I knew he was past the point of burn out. This compounded the feeling of an obligation to stay.
So a week ago, I talked with Icthus, and asked him to come back and officiate an election to fill my spot. As you may know Icthus is TOJ's MMO lead. Icthus agreed to run the election, and is bringing FJ back to help! In talking more with Jad, he has been feeling the same things I had been. Rather than having one of use leave, then a few weeks/months later start the whole process over, and replace the other, we decided it was best to just rip the band-aid off quickly.
So the bottom line is this, Jad and I are going to step down from the GL position. Jad and I had lunch with Icthus today and outlined the process to elect new GL's. Icthus will roll this out in greater detail later this week, but I can tell you I am super comfortable the election will not be a popularity contest, Icthus is going to put candidates through a grueling interview process.
I don't want to give too much away, but be prepared for some significant changes in leadership, discipleship, and raiding. I'm excited for all the changes we have in store!
