Brackets came out today. A couple teams got the shaft I think cough*BC & Seton Hall*cough.
Kentucky is going in strong but I think there will be lots of upsets. Arizona will not go far.

Go Duke!

Sounds like someone has an East Coast bias. Would you swap Big East spots? Or does the BE deserve all those tournement spots?

I do find it interesting that BC wins the confrence title and does not get a bid.

Personally I think Arizona got it tough and Kentucky got an easy ride. I also do not like the OU #1 over Kanas. Kanas wins the confrence title and UT gets second and OU gets a #1 seed???

Can we skip a few days and it be Thursday now???

All I can say is that there are 5 Indiana teams in the tournament. I don't think any of them will go far, though.

:`(

I graduated from Purdue, so naturally I am a fan but they barely got in and I don' think they will beat UConn. If they do, it will be a close game.

Go Purdue, Indiana, Notre Dame, IUPUI and Butler! w00t!

Oregon has to play Kentucky in the second round!

Is that Michigan State or Mississippi State Z?  Agreed that BC shoulda gotten in as opposed to someone like Alabama.  The West is incredibly stacked this year though and the overall winner will probably come out of their, barring some major upsets.  There are some other pretty weird seatings with teams that won their tournament not getting a very high seed when they could've been a 2 or 3, Illinois as opposed to Florida for example.  Not sure who I wanna take to the final four since the number 1's are all quite strong though there's alot of trouble spots for some of them.  Midwest I'm gonna go with Kentucky barring they don't get upset by Oregon or Pitt both of which are quite strong teams in their way.  Illinois or Kansas outta the west.  Oklahome over Wake Forest for the East.  I think Texas will get knocked out early so I'm going to say Maryland out of the South.  If Maryland and Xavier lose early though watch for Michigan State out of the South as they could go Final Four if a couple upsets are pulled.  I would also like to call a Central Michigan over Creighton upset. ;-)

I'm also running online brackets so if anyone wants in on this please e-mail me with your well e-mail and I'll send you an invite.  Tis completly free and such too by the way.

By the way you should be complaing about Kansas not getting the #1 seed with Texas. OU get's it over Kansas as they won the Big12 tourney and beat Kansas the one time they met tis year. Texas on the other hand has done little to none to deserve it over Kansas and is by far the weakest #1

you guys hear about BYU's placement??

i guess if they get into the sweet 16 then they will be scheduled to play games on fridays and Sundays.

Everything will have to be cahnged because they cant play games on Sunday.

I heard one of the guys that set up the brackets is a BYU grad, wonder how he missed that one.

Yea the whole BYU things dumb, but their mormens what do you expect? They should just have to forfeit or something. ;-) As far as the guy who was on the committe (one too many letters in there I know it) being involved with BYU that'd mean he was not allowed to be involved in any discussion or placement with BYU as it is with the school all the members are involved in.

there were 36 ppl setting up and studying the placements, and no one found it.they should have to forfeit.
there is a Seventh Day Adventis shool 'round here, and when they disided to enter the 1A league, they knew they would have to forfeit if they made the playoffs cause they wont play from sun-down friday to sun-up sundy.

whats the point in playing in league if you cant be in the playoffs if you make it.

well that tears it... Cresh and I are both Duke fans, the world is coming to an end.

REPENT NOW WHILE YOU STILL CAN!

(Dukes in the toughest bracket and will still be final four)

*chortles as Central Michigan knocks Duke out in the second round* I mean comeon they got beat by Indiana last year. Duke == The suckie.

Funny how BYU is run by the same cult that came up with that bribery scam to get the olympics into Salt Lake City.

PS, I know absolutly nothing about bball, but my favorite team is Texas A&M, and my second favorite is anyone who is playing Texas.

I'll just nod my head at what Trevor says since he seems to know what he's talking about.

My thoughts:

How on earth did Texas get a 1 seed after getting knocked off in the quarterfinals of the Big12 tourney? Pitt should've gotten their #1 spot after winning the Big East and the Big East tournament. Both the West and the East are pretty strong when you look at teams like Oklahoma, Wake, Louisville, and Syracuse in the same field - that's a pretty strong list of 1-4, maybe not quite the same as the West, but the East is tough too. Midwest looks ripe for upsets when you've got teams like Weber State, Tulsa, Missouri (for a 2nd round upset), Holy Cross, and Southern Illinois (remember the Salukis last year?). I think Pitt is a really strong 2 seed that should've been 1 and they've got the defense, depth, and balance to knock off Kentucky, although it'll be a really close game that could go either way.

And Maryland's got a pretty good shot at the south. I think Xavier's an overrated team this year. They've been disrespected and underrated the last 2 years, but this year, there's no question they're overrated. Sure West is good, but not that good. He's not a very dominant player. He gets his stats, but I don't think he's the kind of player that can carry Xavier very deep in the tournament. Troy State is a potential cinderalla, and then they take on Maryland which has way more experience when it comes to tournament time, so I think they'll pull off the upset (in terms of seeding). Oh, and Colorado will beat Michigan State. Mark that down.

The West is crazy but I think Arizona can hold off. They lost to UCLA in the Pac-10 tourney, but they have absolutely solid guard play and are very balanced as well. They also have some big time players in Gardner and Stoudamire. I thought they were a legitimate Final Four team last year although they got knocked off (I forget by who). East I think will go to Syracuse. Carmelo Anthony is simply amazing, and there's no stopping him, especially when he's playing in Albany, NY.

Oh, and the whole BYU ordeal. You guys have to be joking that they should have to forfeit. They've always had that consideration in the past and there is absolutely NO WAY that the committee should have overlooked it. It's ridiculous that this even happened somehow. If they get that far (which I doubt they will), they deserve to play, and the NCAA will have to find a way to fix it.

Finals? Arizona beats out Maryland for the national title. It'll be rough getting there, but I think Arizona can pull it off. They've got clutch players and have a ton of talent. Notre Dame can pull it off if Thomas, Carroll, and Miller catch fire, but I don't think it's gonna happen. I would like for it to happen, but sadly I don't think it will. And so Arizona will deservingly win the national title.

hmm... Duke the suckie?

under Mike Krzyzewski alone, Duke has played in 7 championship games, winning 3:
'91
'92
'01

and now I'll list Central Michigans championships... oh wait they don't have any.

Hey toe, before you open you mouth next time you might want to actually WATCH a basketball game or two.

You're probably a UNC fan !

pwned.

and what exactly made you think that??!

Ya know I'm acctually going to renig on my call of Kentucky in the Final Four and go with Pitt cause I really doubt even Kentucky can keep their winning streak going for 4 more games if they meet up with Pitt or Orregon. So I'm taking Pitt. I definitly agree that we're probably going to see 5-8 from the South. UConn, Maryland, Michigan St., and LSU all have surprisingly good paths out.

Hmm all the teams coming in with decent winning streaks are falling off rather quickly. Foreshadowing to Kentucky perhaps? ;-)
