ok every now n then my video card gets screwed up, i dont know how or why but when i turn off my computer at night its fine, then in the morning it turns out like this:

i can fix it by reinstalling the drivers but their the omega 3rd party drivers, other than the official ATI ones O_o . however the 3rd party has trouble with open_gl for CS so yeah..... ideas?

That's strange. I have seen that happen if the monitor isn't plugged in all the way, but this is definately something with the video card.

Edit: If you have any other cards lying around, I suggest you try those to make sure it isn't motherboard-related.

hmmm ok, i'll check. and no it isnt mobo related i just got the radeon 9600SE a huge update from my rage pro 16mb

I have the 9600se too...

I've noticed that when I've left my computer on for a long time the video card will get overheated. I'd take off the cover, check the temp of the video card, and if it's really warm you may need to either install another fan or turn off your computer more often. Go ahead and do what HCS suggested too; updating the drivers is always a good idea.

well it seems to have updated ok. and it seems to be ok. the only reason i didt try update before is cuz it was brand new and figuired it didt need updates. guess i was wrong. but it works in open_gl just fine and the reason i dont do d3d is cuz when i alt-tab out of cs and back it gets messed up pretty bad so for matches i need open_gl. thanks all

DAH IT DID IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!! ive decided to return it, i found the recipt (after 2 hours of searching the house and checking the garbage.) wish me luck cuz today is the 14th day exactly.

it could have to do with it being finicky or it could be just mussed up. on our TV screens at home, our corneres turn a purplish pink when we put something on top of it. It also happens with my dad's monitor. It interferes with some sort of magnetics going on... I would advise you to not put stuff on top of your monitor or anything that would interfere with anything in your comp, or monitor...

That shouldnt be affected by your diff vid card. Returning it is a good plan if it idnt work with the newest drivers.

i got a new card today, works just fine, plug n go ^_^
