Need Monk Advice

Howdy All.

I'm looking for some PvP monk advice.

I'm a level 14 Mo/Me. I was doing really well in Asc. Arena, including a run of 16 consecutive wins. However when I moved on to Shiverpeak Areana things started to fall apart. I've lost about 80% of my matches.

The issue is that I seem to get blamed a lot for the losses. I know that's just part of being a monk, and I don't let it get to me. But I've been blamed A LOT for multiple, unrelated people... and since I am losing... I'm starting to wonder if it is me. Maybe I'm missing something...

I don't think I have bad strategy. But maybe there's something missing from my build that I don't know about. I really don't know much about armor, bonuses and all that. Could I ask some experienced monks to look at my build and let me know if anything looks out of whack?

Any advice would be very much appreciated!

Mo/Me 14

Protection 6
Divine Favor 5

Ok well first of all, continue to not let it bother you. As a monk we will always get jerks who complain about something. Every now and then someone gives a praise and that makes it worth it.

Now about your setup, we can work with this. First thing I noticed was that your attributes are spread out You have both Prot and Healing skills. Pick one or the other. Ditch all Prot skills and prot attributes or ditch all healing. Pick one way and go strong. Be a prot monk or a healing monk, not both. Same with the mesmer skills, splash illusion or inspire, but not both. Eventually you will want the mesmer elite skill Energy Drain, its pretty sweet.

It might be more fun, but it is not as efficient to have 2 lines from mesmer and 3 lines from monk going at same time.

If you want to be a strong healer try to max Healing with Divine favor right behind. Leave everything else. Fill your skill bar with all healing skills.

Now your offhand focus item could use some work. I have a +12 energy with 20%/20% healing skills you can have. PM me in game for it.

Your armor could use some work, but you might want to save up for Drok's Forge for the good stuff.

But most of all is to have fun. These are just my opinions. Give it a shot and see what you think.

lol. Can't type much. I'm on a 27 (and counting) match winning streek... you might have been right... :)

Nice, I concur with ewoks, you really want to choose either healing or prot, not both. Part of being a monk for a group is being uber strong in either healing or protection.

Thanks for the advice guys.

The reason I was so spread out was that I was trying to protect myself against the "kill the monk" onslaught with protection as Me skills. But it seems that having a bar full of healing skills is really the best defense. For myself and my group. :)

Our winning streak went to 40 consecutive wins. It was amazing. It was mostly due to a really, really good Mo/W in the group.

My new build:

Inspiration 1
Healing 12
DF 3

Orison of Healing
Healing Breeze
Infuse Health (oh my gosh this one is awesome!)
Heal Party
Vigorous Spirit
Mend
Channeling
Rez Sig

Now I'd suggest lowering Healing about two attributes and pumping up Divine Favor. Your Orison will do more healing than before, since Divine favor will go up more than two attribute levels.

Hey Ewoks,

On the first reading I totally missed your very kind offer for that item. That's very nice of you! I would have to pay you something for it tho. I doubt I have as much money as it's worth... but still... :)

ahh no way, its from a collector by the hydras that I farm often. It seriously takes me like 10 mins to earn one. Remind me in game, I have it and a smiting rod for you
