New Job... sorta

Last Friday the warranty administrator quit and I was offered that job.

Today, she "unquit" her job.

The difference in my current pay and what I would have been paid is enormous.

I like the current warranty administrator, shes a very nice person and she works very hard.

I don't know how to feel. On one hand, she quit her job. Can you "unquit" a job?! You can't unquit a lot of things! On the other hand, it was pretty stupid to quit because of other life-oriented things.

I was looking forward to the additional pay, but really - I'm just upset. I was offered a job and then a few days later, before I even started that job, she tells me "nevermind."

Uh, er, uh, not enough info?

What life oriented things are you talking about? Was it a serious life oriented thing like death in the family or was it I want to go find myself among the trees? If it was something serious or beyond her control be understanding. I mean it's life things happen to us we can't control. I'm merciful when it happens to others as I know it happens to me. Now if she did it on a whim and she is actually nice (and you aren't just saying that or you aren't talking about two different people as the original post seemed unclear) you might want mention to her, POLITELY, about how her choices have an impact on others. Not to get something out of it but lest she do again or to another. In short for her benefit and edification. Remember though you still have to work there later on and raging on her will only make things worse.

Of course before anything you should be talking to God about your feelings.

If you like her be happy for her. Just my opinion I know nothing about dealing with people.

I've been there for 8 years with no raise and this one time it gets taken away.

She was leaving because she wanted to do something else. I say "life oriented events" because I don't want to go into too much detail about someone else's private life on the internet. But it's totally controllable.

It just seems to me that once you put in your notice that means you've already thought of the facets of employment and all the facets of unemployment (she was planning on using her 401K to go back to school).

When she told me she was staying, she said "Sorry but I just have to do what's best for me right now." I wanted to ask her why she put her notice in after that ridiculous answer. I was offered this job too by our manager, it wasn't like I was stalking it and was encouraging her to quit.

I suppose this is a test of my patience with other people, but it's already been stretched paper thin. The caliber of the people we work with is on average pretty low (not very motivated or driven to do all of what their work calls for) and in the eight years Ive been there we've been through 8 general managers... yes. Eight.

So I suppose its a good thing I didn't get it, but it still would have helped me save for graduate school, which hopefully I will start in the fall.
