New SC2 Single Player Gameplay Demo

I really wanted to stay mad at Blizzard for splitting StarCraft II across three retail releases, but I have to admit that watching the single player gameplay demo in HD makes it difficult.

I'm still hoping that the second and third releases will be considerably less expensive than the first, since the idea of paying $150 for a "complete" StarCraft II makes me mad all over again. But since multiplayer will work out of the box with the first release, I will probably succumb to the hype (it HAS been over 10 years and StarCraft is my favorite strategy game of all time, after all) and pre-order when the time comes.

Also: The video is awesome. Make sure to watch it. The only part I didn't care for is the section with the escort quest. I loathe escort quests.

StarCraft II (Wings of Liberty)[20] First half of 2010[21] science fiction real-time strategy game

StarCraft II (Heart of the Swarm) under development expansion pack
StarCraft II (Legacy of the Void) under development expansion pack

Expansion packs shouldn't be as high priced as the first.

Roughly: $50, $20, $20, US dollars.
But if you wait for a SC2 Battlechest, it would be about $35-50, US dollars.

Three Starcraft 2 games and its strategy guides.

Wow, looking at Canadian sites....
Estimated release date: May 31, 2010.

If the campaigns are as extensive as Blizzard claims they will be, I think $20 would be reasonable. After all, Brood War costs $20 or $30 (I can't remember which) at launch.

EDIT: I'm still not pleased with having to buy three games instead of one for the full experience, but I know (barring unforeseen circumstances) I'll likely buy at least the first title in the "trilogy."

not buying any until they are packaged together for 50 bucks or less. That's what they promised and now they want to wring 3x the money out of us..no thanks.

Aye, I can understand that position.

But as a long-time fan of StarCraft and as the leader of a Christian gaming group, I feel it's important I (and, I hope, other Tribe of Judah members) get in on the "ground floor" of the game that is more likely to re-unite the strategy gaming community than any other release in the last several years.

And, to be fair, any StarCraft fan could have guessed there would be one expansion pack. The only difference is that there's going to be two and they've been announced ahead of time. The real issue is not that they're planning to release two expansion packs; it's, "What are the expansion packs going to cost?" I'm saving the remainder of my outrage for when Blizzard answers that question.

I just watched it and it did look good... though I was never a fan of the first one.

Did I hear some of the same sound effects?

Yes. :(

If you also noticed, some upgrade icons and unit weapon/armor/shield icons are the same from the Original.

Some are mixed too. The Reaper's Spidermines is the same icon as the Vultures...
