Newnet off

I turned newnet off for the Landmass. It's an experiment. I am sick of getting my face hitscanned off by people who are otherwise bad at the game-- i.e., they can't time powerups or roam the map intelligently. I like newnet because it allows me to play on NYC servers, but I don't like it because it changes the fundamental balance of the game, and turns everything into an instagib-like shock fest.

Besides, the good players should be able to aim without it, and we might see more TAM players try DM if newnet is off, since TAM does not have it. And the server is supposed to be a recreation of Figment's Mojo, which existed in the days before newnet.

I realize this leaves ColdSteel out in the cold, which is something I don't want to do. I am working on a way to make it voteable by a 2/3 majority.

Ah, ok, so that's what you meant by "it makes bad players good at the game". The way you just explained it makes more sense than what you said on the server, I can see why you turned it off.

Oh yeah, whatever happened to the 5v5 TAM thing?

Go ahead and fix it the way you want, no problem here. I'll play there anyway. My bro Blackbeard and I play quite a lot on it in the mornings with about the same ping because of where he lives. He told me today he actually won a match. He's gett'n better. I've got him in training on dial up. lol He needs some broadband coaching. He does have dsl.

Doesn't bother me...I don't think I ever noticed when it was on or off 'cuz my ping was always pretty good and I'm used to getting schooled against anybody I play on that server.

My ping does fluctuate quite a bit due to my linksys router (hehe, I like to bash linksys any chance I get), but I can still manage a few good hits with the shock. And usually my ping isn't all that bad, so it doesn't bother me that much either, it was just sort of like extra insurance that my hitscans would be on.
