[NEWS] Welcome to CGA 2.0!

YOU'RE WELCOME.

:D

All: I uploaded a couple quick fixes. I moved the IRC applet to a second page on our Chat section, and added a TeamSpeak monitor to the sidebar on the non-forums pages.

Gen: I tweaked the teal color thingy. How does it look now? (You may need to empty your cache for it to show up.)

Well, this is the first time I've looked at it, and I think it's pretty sweet! Great work, SirThom. You're doing us all a great favor and I really appreciate everything you've done.

And I thin the blue/green is shifty.

the font is tiny. That's the biggest issue for me. Her system is plenty fast for java..mine which is 5 years old somethimes chokes as well and i get null pointer errors from java when loading this app about 60% of the time.

I think its professional looking, very neat and tidy. I love the colours, the popular threads feature. All in all, I really like the upgrade and it didn't seem to take long to do the upgrading.

Enough positive feedback, time for some suggestions:

1. Would be nice to have interface tweaks for those who have issues with colours and font sizes so they can enjoy the forums as much as I do.

2. A spam feature so I can get to 6,000 posts by tomorrow.

Aye, I'm aware of that. I'll tinker with some settings and see what I can do.

Okay, sorry. I just know it can be an issue for slower machines, and I had no idea what type of machine she had.

Thanks!! =)

The new "CGA 2.0" is nice. Though, I'd have to agree with hescominsoon, the font is tiny. Although, everyone likes the new look, however I, myself prefer the old look. So, hopefully, your modification of changing CGA forum skins will be done soon.

For the popular threads you should consider using a substring to limit the length of the titles up top. Also a - or something in front of the items in the <li> element would improve readability up top.

currently the "bullet" is linked to http://www.tom-mcguires-mac-mini.local/cga/_global/frontend/bullet.gif
which does not work (for good reason).

Code:
	#topics li a {
		list-style-image: url(path/to/url);
		//background-image: url(http://tom-mcguires-mac-mini.local/cga/_global/frontend/bullet.gif);
		//background-repeat: no-repeat;
		//background-position:
		center left;
		padding: 0 0 0 12px;
	}

I propose replacing the commented out with:
list-style-image: url(path/to/url);

which seems to be the proper way to do it. (and fix all the broken links to the images :P)

EDIT: Replacing "http://tom-mcguires-mac-mini.local/cga/" with "../" might fix alot of the image stuff

I think this is the kind of thing that VK is suggesting the truncation for.

*edit* threw the pic in quotes so it looked less messy. I couldn't tell what I was looking at, and it was my screenshot :)

Haha! No wonder why I couldn't figure out the problem -- because tom-mcguires-mac-mini.local is me! :p

I've updated the paths and things should look a little more like this:

If it doesn't, let me know and I'll investigate further. I should have a fix for the thread title lengths online momentarily -- I'll post another update when that happens.

Thanks for your patience, guys. =)

Once the lengths are fixed it should sit on top of the forums like the main page and it will look really good :P

EDIT: hmm is it just me or is the search portion a few pixels too low? I may have to mess around with it sometime.

It's better, but still very hard to read. I am still only good for about 5 minutes.

If I may suggest....before you launch another new version, set up a test section and have as many users as possible with machines test is and check to see what is going on. That way, when it launches, the bugs will be fewer.
