Nintendo DS Lite + Mario Kart DS

Okay. I'm still trying to decide if I want to buy a Nintendo DS Lite. I can't find it any cheaper than $125 online (including eBay) or retail and I don't think I ever will. I've pretty much given up on getting a price break on the DS itself.

I should mention that, after finding so many good deals online, I almost cringe at the idea of paying full retail price for anything electronic.

That being said, I was hoping to buy Mario Kart DS for less than $35. My wife and I were at Gamestop tonight and I couldn't bring myself to pay full price for both the DS and Mario Kart DS--especially since Circuit City recently ran a special where they would give anyone who bought a DS a free DS case.

So, all that being said, does anyone know of any store that would give some kind of incentive or discount if I were to purchase the DS Lite and Mario Kart DS?

I also plan on picking up Big Brain Academy at some point, too.

Wait -- doesn't the DS come with Mario Kart DS? Or maybe that was a limited-time promotion. *shrug*

You may want to call around a couple GameCrazy's (you have at least a few in your area), as they usually have some kind of promotion attached to a new system purchase (including Nintendo DS).

GameCrazy, eh?

Well, they've got to be a step up from GameStop/EB Games. I mean, c'mon, $45 for a used game when a new copy is $50? Why don't they sell you some snake oil to coat the CDs while they're at it?

EDIT: I'm not seeing that they even sell the Nintendo DS Lite. I only see games listed on their web site.

Ohh, their website sucketh... it doesn't really do anything except tell you info about games. Give 'em a call tomorrow and see if they have anything running -- AFAIK, most of their promo stuff is on a store-by-store basis.

When I first got my Nintendo DS (this being over a year ago) I got it with Animal Crossing for $10 more[/random story]. But in all due seriousness, if you can't get either a discount on the DS or the game itself I would suggest going for it anyway but then again, that's just me... Oh, and don't forget getting a warranty on the system itself as well just in case (tis another story in and of itself that I may or may not tell at another time).

eBay is your friend.
No auction is going for less than $120 with shipping. At that point, I might as well fork over the extra $10 plus tax to get it the same day, be assured of a warranty, and be able to return it to the store in case of a defective model.
Also, try Amazon.
Already looked, but thank you for the suggestion. :)

I called the nearest GameCrazy and they said that I would get 12 free rentals (one per month over the course of a year) at Hollywood Video with the purchase of a DS.

The free rentals could come in handy for trying out new Wii games, so if I do buy the Nintendo DS soon, I'll likely buy it there.

Oy. Now there are rumors of Nintendo releasing a third model of the DS with a larger screen. Maybe I should wait a few months and see if there's any truth behind the rumor.

I've decided to wait until July 13, the last day of E3 2007, to see if Nintendo announces a new Nintendo DS model. There's been a few rumors to that effect and I would be rather upset if I bought a DS Lite two weeks before a new model was announced.

I've got my GBA SP, my Wii, my PS2, my Dreamcast, my PS1, my desktop PC, and my notebook PC to keep me occupied until then, so no worries.
