No thread title can express how excited I am about this news

Did i miss something? I clicked it... still have no idea what it is.
Chrono Trigger...

/me takes a deep breath

...FOR THE NINTENDO DS.

I think we can all agree that this is one of the very few situations that calls for all bold caps.

Chrono Trigger is awsomeness! I don't have a DS, money or the inclination to replay games no matter how good they are. However if I did it was one of the, if not the, best rpg ever made and would top my list.

OH. EMM. GEE. If it is, I will squeal like a little girl after getting a 6-person stickybomb death party on the last point of Badlands.

haha i got it right off the bat. kool beanz

yep. I'm with Atown. I saw that... thought about it.... and WOW....

I really wish I had a DS right now....

Sooooo Tek what about the new DS version of FF4? :D

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/35763.html I think the paladin form looks kind of girly though:p
I really liked Final Fantasy IV (and am looking forward to Final Fantasy IV DS), but I loved Chrono Trigger and FFVI. Many people agree that CT and FFVI were the two greatest RPGs of the 16-bit generation, if not the two best RPGs ever.

Since Chrono Trigger has multiple endings, has a New Game+ feature, and doesn't use random encounters, it's much more appealing to replay than FFVI.

Probably the most exciting aspect of the FF4 remake is the addition of portions of the script cut from the original release.

Now I'm hoping that Square-Enix re-translates the script for Chrono Trigger, since the job was rushed the first time. As strange as it may sound, I also hope they add the script sections they censored back into the plot. In a day when a game about running over innocent civilians and beating prostitutes to get your money back receives widespread critical acclaim, references to alcohol and religion don't seem nearly as sinister.
ARG. Now I NEED to buy a DS. As opposed to merely wanting one for a while...

I have a feeling that this title is going to move more than a few DS Lites off the shelf.

I have picked up the original Chrono Trigger for the supernintendo at a garage sell for like 5$ for the whole system. Been playing it through for the first time, better late than never :)

Anyways I hear that the original can fetch a pretty penny nowadays.

I've seen Chrono Trigger sell for more than $70 USD on eBay. I admit I'm feeling a twinge of jealousy.

EDIT: This copy of Chrono Trigger is at $84.69 USD with 3 days and 6 hours left.

Can someone check on tek to make sure he is breathing properly and is getting enough rest? He needs to last at least until the game comes out.

He's breathing, but I think he has a childish grin from ear to ear. Come to think of it, if they release something like a loading screen, he'll probably keel over in euphoric delight. :P I'm excited a lot about it, but I REALLY hope they don't screw up with Stylus controls.

I'm alive, healthy, and getting plenty of sleep. I did nearly hyperventilate when I first read the news about Chrono Trigger coming to the DS AND when I read the press release confirming a US 2008 release date, but I'm fine now.

Yes and yes.

ok, so the day it comes out I may have to buy it and a DS.... boy what a guy will go through just to play good games.

I think you missed the auction where the sealed box of CT sold for something like $4500. Or maybe it was $1500. Either way, man. Makes it kinda hard to enjoy something from childhood when it costs an arm and a leg. Even MGS3 Subsistence is priced rather nastily on ebay and amazon.
