Nvidia Project Shield - New handheld/console

Any thoughts on this? Nvidia announces ‘Shield’ gaming system.


I appears to be a handheld gaming system, with the capability to be a console as well (can be plugged into a TV). In a way it's very much like the new Wii U. But is this something that will catch on? The Shield as a gaming console, but also the trend of handheld consoles as well.

In order to utilize it's almost zero latency PC game streaming feature, one must have a Nvidia 600 (or newer I guess) series card, and they must be on their home network. Other than that, it's just using android games. Kinda overkill for an android gaming device if you are like me and have a radeon card.

I doubt it'll catch on in the larger market. Even Nvidia acknowledges that it is a niche product.
