Ode to Heroes
War raged throughout Avelorn,
Its lush verge sundered and torn.
Battle’s constant ebb and flo,
Taking of keeps and BOs.
Up stood a warrior priest,
Sickened by war’s bloody feast.
Come brave kinsmen! he did call,
To High Pass! he beckoned all.
Some were done with the impasse,
And joined Faithful in High Pass.
Too few came to take a keep,
From BOs, glory they reaped.
Enticing word spread ‘ere long,
Of victory’s siren song.
Heroes came from all the lands,
And soon he had two warbands.
No keep could hold them at bay,
No green orc stood in their way.
Battle maps shone all in blue,
Now of orcs were sought a clue.
Thickmuck taken in the night,
By orcs hiding from a fight.
Gnol Baraz we would defend,
Eager to spill blood again.
Off the walls! Faithful roared,
We shall fight at the keep lord!
Was patience here he wondered,
To hide while doors were sundered?
The warbands said yes they could,
Atop the lord’s ramp they stood.
Cold, silent walls were baiting,
Destro while we were waiting.
Up the ramp rushed evil’s tide,
Its attack swollen with pride.
Then Destro saw Faithful’s Wall,
Black hearts despaired ‘ere their fall.
Dwarf and elf and man did surge,
Down the ramp the keep to purge.
Orc and elf and man laid low,
By heroes’ strong, telling blows.
Earth covered in a red flood,
But none was the heroes’ blood.
Orc, elf, and black-hearted man,
Tucked their yellow tails and ran.
It was quite the sight to see. Faithful wanted to grind T3 RvR influence in the dwarf and empire zones, so several of us tagged along. It didn't take long for our small group of 5 to turn into two full warbands. We actually "locked" dwarf and elf zones for a while. Eventually, we found Destro in dwarf lands and decided to wait for them in BFP keep, Gnol Baraz. We were able to convince both WBs to wait at the keep lord (some were hiding on third floor) and we waited for the destro to rush up the ramp. It was a hoot; they made it half way up, stopped, swore, cried, gnashed a few teeth, then resignedly rushed to their doom. We wiped their entire WB without losing a single person.
Those involved were: Faithful, Hopeful, Abrams, Zechar, Amethyst, and Samnation. My apologies if I missed anyone.
