Other Games?

What games other than UT are you guys playing these days? I would like to hook up and play some games with you guys, but so few are playing UT at the moment.

I'm playing console and handheld games almost exclusively nowadays. Fortress Forever, TeamFortress 2, and Starcraft 2 will likely draw me back into PC gaming, but I'll likely stick with UT2004, Starcraft, and TFC until then. I may still play Counter-Strike just to play with other ToJ members until FF or TF2 come out, though.

I am not playing much these days, and I am torn on saving money. I really want to get a Wii or an iPhone, but since they haven't released hardware specs for UT3 I don't know if I'll need the money for a PC upgrade, and with id's announcement at Quakecon about Quake Zero (which will definitely NOT require an upgrade) I don't know if it's worth waiting without a Wii or an iPhone until November, when I might find out that UT3 is gonna be a very hardware intensive game I won't want to play. Or it could be a game that I want to play, in which case the upgrade is worth the money... or it could run on the hardware I have now, which means I'll get it whether I like the game or not so I can play with you guys and LOB.

And as much as I like PC gaming, the only games that are coming out that still hold my attention are UT3, Quake Zero, TF2, and Portal, and I think UT3 is the only one that might not run on the computer I have now.

The bottom line is that Epic really, really, really need to get their act together and release some recommended technical specs since the game is only three months away now.

Anyway, I am only playing my DS and Warsow now.

I have tried quite a few of the demos out there, for Battlefield 2142, Fear multiplayer, Halo and others, and i'm just not fond of the gameplay and physics of them after getting used to UT2k4. I pretty much have been playing on Co30 & Maximum Carnage's servers lately. MXC has Freon setup as a voteable gametype, it's like freeze tag but with guns :D, its pretty cool. I'm on most every night, if you ever want to hook up, i'm on Xfire.

A Freeze Tag mod?! Excellent, I loved that gameplay variation for Q3, will definitely check this one out. Cap'n, I'll definitely try and hop on there with you some evening. What are your usual gaming hours?

As for me, I'm currently playing:

Wu Hing (PC) - casual, board game-like tile placement strategy game; indie dev, $20 to register, worth it if you like Go or Reiner Knizia's Samurai. No internet play unfortunately.

Battle of Wesnoth (PC) - open source turn-based fantasy strategy game.

Spartan (GC) - Old Gamecube hack 'em up, totally awesome brainless fun against 100's of enemies at a time. I play it to unwind.

RE4 (GC) - Beat it recently, working on unlocking some of the bonus stuff, playing through hard mode.

Company of Heroes (PC) - Excellent WWII RTS, but because I take so long to play RTS sessions (I micromanage too much), I only play occasionally when I have a large block of time.

Used to play a lot of Guild Wars but I've kind of lost interest. Want to get into Dawn of War, but can't justify it 'cuz of long play times (see Company of Heroes).

Looking forward to: TeamFortress II/Portal, UTIII, mmmaybe Bioshock.

I'm usually on somewhere between 8 & 10pm est. I'll make sure i'm logged into Xfire so you can find me easy. :D :p

Wicked, thanks. I installed it last night, but I probably won't be around to play with you for a few days. I played a couple rounds with bots though, lots of fun. :) I'll see ya online!
