I would like to know if you are on fire.

I am currently flickering daily. Like REALLY on fire one day, then kind of weird the next day.

PLEASE PLEASE See my post in the prayer/praise request forum...

Again, a repeat message: It would be GREAT if you pray for me for:

1. STAYING ON FIRE! w00t!
2. Staying away from and resisting temptation.

AGAIN: I would like to know if you are on fire.

No, I never am. Contrary to what a lot of evangelicals would have you think, not every "true" Christian is "on fire" all the time, or in some cases at all.

I would also encourage you spend some time reflecting introversively to discover if your being "on fire" is really just a chemical high (which would be explained by the inconsistancy of emotional levels), or if it really is spiritual elevation.

I believe the term being on fire for GOd is being moptivated to expand the kingdom of Heaven.

Each o us is called to be something in the Plan of the Lord. He doesn't make mistakes. He has a plan for each and everyperson. Maybe its not to sidewalk preach, or help the poor and need or champoin the fatherless. But is something. The "fire is there for each an everyone of us.

I feel where I am is placing my logs in a way that my fire gets the most heat and fuel it can. Thats where I am

Give me oil in my lamp,
Keep me burning!
Give me oil in my lamp
I pray!
Give me oil in my lamp
Keep me burning;
Keep me burning
'Till the break of day!
Sing, Hosanna!
Sing, Hosanna!
Sing, Hosanna
To the King of Kings!
Sing, Hosanna!
Sing, Hosanna!
Sing Hosanna to the King!

SA, rather the candle seems to burn bright, or flicker...remember, we cannot depend on our emotions, only on the Word of God. He gives the breath of life.

And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Genesis 2:7

As for our Spiritual life, keeping in His Word and prayer provide the oxygen for the flame to burn.

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. John 8:12

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63

You remember the parable of the sower? Luke 8: 11-15. Each one had heard the Word of God. The enemy took it quickly from some, so that they would not be saved. Then there as those who received the Word with joy! However, when trials and temptations came, they fell away. They were not strong in the Word of God, they had no root. If we don't stand for something, the very Word of God, we may be tempted to fall for anything. Others hear, but the cares, riches, and pleasures of this life will not allow them to focus on God and the things of God. Lastly, the ones that seek a daily walk with God hear the Word, they keep it, they apply it, the do it! Those are the ones that have no need of worry that their fire will die!

The problem I have with this statement is that it seems to me your getting alot out of this because it "feels good" - The same philosophy that the world uses when it makes their moral and ethical decisions. If you base your relationship with God on feelings, then what will happen to you when a tragic event happens in your life?

I'm not arguing with that. But you need to ask yourself; if this is from God, then why is it fluctuating? Be sure you know if it's spiritual or just emotional high. The two can often feel similar.

The question that arrises there is, how can you discern the two from each other?

I wouldn't mind having "on fire" defined by SA as well as why it seems necessary to always be "on fire". Is there some biblical reason behind this?

Maxx I am at the exact point where you are on this "on fire" thing...nary am i ever on fire..I might have experienced it as a tiny flicker but thats it....remember the faith of a mustard seed!

Just because the rush you experienced at one point is not there does not mean that you are not "on fire" for God.

Just because I am not actively handing out tracks or witnessing at every moment or reading my Bible every second of the day does not mean I am not on fire for God. Y'all may want to take a look at your pilot light instead of the size of the flame coming out of the burner. I have a pilot light that allows the burners on my stove to light. If that pilot light goes out, it does not matter how high I turn on the gas for the flame, there will be no fire for cooking.
