Possibly the majorest update in GW history

Ok, short story: Anet is in the middle of working on titles to make them require LESS grind. Meaning those of us WITHOUT GWAMM, will have an easier time GETTING GWAMM.

Dev page talking about it:
I'm deep into the design process on the big title rebalance we have planned to release in the November content update. I'm about a week away from having the design locked down and then will start working on implementing it. Because I am trying to hit so many different areas of the game, this is going to be a pretty big update. As such, we won't be able to put it out there in Octobers build which will make that build a bit light but I think it will be worth the wait. Plus we have the Halloween event this month so it won't be too light.

I'm going to get back to analyzing the rates of faction gain now, just wanted to let people know how we are doing over here.

:D I like my slightly over exaggerated disclaimer ;)

Discuss peoples! IMO this is one of the biggest and more important updates in GW. As a title person I am excited about this update, but I know that a lot of GWAMM's are gonna QQ about it a lot. But I'm glad that Anet is doing something about it. The only thing left in this game (it seems) is to grind. Unfortunately, getting titles is really the only thing keeping me in the game (aside from having the greatest guild ever!), so if they make it easier I might get bored.. But that's not something to think about! ;)

What's your guys' take??

Woot!!!!!!! To me the titles are so hard to get most of the time I don't even want to try. I don't have 50 hours a week to grind and maybe now I can get a few.

Latter, I am going to go play GW!

lol, idk Josh. they will get A LOT of flak for that. But I see Kurzick (which I see has half PvP half PvE thanks to HFFF), LB/SS, Treasure/Wisdom getting revamped someway

It would be best imo if they didn't touch the pvp ones, but changed all the others (I don't count kurz/lux titles as pvp, due to a large segment of that faction coming from pve now)

Right I agree, I think PvP is alright as it stands now. I don't think they should change the titles, but maybe something else. As for PvE tho, some of the titles scream grind

Which is why I usually stick with my R4 "Deadly Hero" title. :)

There is currently a lot of speculation going on other at guru. Here's some of the top predictions, but keep in mind that it is simply speculation at this point. Nothing has been confirmed.

Treasure Hunter and Wisdom are going account based. (This is almost a certainty)

Some type of change will happen with the Kurzick/Luxon title, but we aren't sure what. It's kinda definite that the faction cap will be raised though. Probably linked to your rank just like the pvp titles affect the Balt Faction cap. It will be nice to be able to hold more than 10k faction. Personally I hope they vamp up the rewards for FA/JQ to make those arenas more appealing.

Possibly a change to the EotN bounty titles to require less grind. Personally I don't think it's needed. Those aren't that grind intensive now. At least not when compared to some others.

Possibly Drunkard/Sweet Tooth/Party Animal going account based.

Personally I'd love to see a change to survivor. I want a chance to gain it with Scarlet, my title hunter. There are a lot of characters that never had a chance at the title since they had already died many times when the title was introduced. I understand the one shot nature of the title, but perhaps a one time death reset could work.

I wonder if a new title will be introduced at the same time?

And no one at guru has yet mentioned the Zaishen title. Perhaps the most grind intensive title of them all.

If they change Pvp to make it easier I will be very mad. They best leave it alone.

To whoever is responsible - thanks for removing that link from the post. I wouldn't want anyone else to step into it like I did.

Sorry for not being specific - on the Bonk!Ow! post on 10-04-08 there was a link that opened a video that would not close - it jammed my laptop - I had to reboot to get rid of the thing.

yes my bad.. November update. October is just Halloween and XT points as far as I know, NEXT month is gonna be fun!

Just my personal feeling...I would like all "grind" titles to be account-based as well. Honestly, I kind of feel like all titles should be account based. If you have taken the time to gain legendary cartographer...there is no reason you shouldn't be able to show that on any character. Titles are supposed to reflect achievements...and saying that you should have to do specific achievements on specific characters only encourages playing "your main" all the time. I don't even think this would make many people cry, because don't think many people who have more than one title hunter. This would also clear up the "I can't get survivor" issue that a lot of players have (and I don't blame them), because you could just complete on a new character. Because, aside from an account-wide feature, the only fair way I could see to let a title hunter retry survivor would be to literally make them a new character, destroying all customized items, clearing all quest progress, resetting xp, and giving access to zero outposts. If a proph character, all items would have to go as well. That's just my $.02.

On a side note - I think titles tend to be a trap of elitism and vanity, and we need to be careful as Christians. As a former hardcore Diablo II player, I loved the challenge of a survivor title and worked hard to get it...I think the only help I had was getting from Cantha to Elona from Josh. In fact, my assassin's IGN not only means "death" (Rom 6:23), but also references how to survive eternally. :)

I am working on Legendary Guardian now as well...again, I love the challenge and like to "complete" things in games. After that, I will probably max up Dwarf and Asura rep so that I can get a beautiful rainbow phoenix...just something I'd like to do. To me, things like "sweet tooth" are just silly (no offense meant to anyone who has this). I also wonder sometimes whether it is right for a Christian to go for the drunkard title...online game or not... Again, no offense meant to anybody with this title...I'm not judging you!

All that said, I have to say I am guilty of usually showing my Legendary Survivor when I am out and about...maybe sometimes for the wrong reasons? I'm not saying there's anything wrong with having pride (the good kind) and a sense of accomplishment. Also, I realize that title hunting is all a lot of people "have left to do" anymore. I'm just saying that I feel that pride and elitism can creep in very easily if we aren't careful. Anybody else have any thoughts on this? Sorry for the somewhat off-topic post. :)
