Progress.
We take Physical laws so seriously. We teach, learn, cooperate, conform, and research them laws like gravity, aerodynamics, and so on. Intelligent minds have spent countless hours studying and researching God’s physical order, and making incredible technological progresses.
But What if we took God’s moral and spiritual laws as serious?
(Let them think)
A few things I came up with
1. No alienation
2. No hate
3. No discrimination
4. No exploitation
5. No manipulation
6. No abuse of power
7. No lying and deceit
8. No divorce
9. No battered1 wives
10. No abused children
11. No alcohol or drug addictions
12. No Suicide
13. No murder
14. No crime
15. No poverty
16. No hopelessness
17. No despair
18. No teen pregnancy
19. No pornography
20. No war
All though we tend to follow the physical laws of God we tend to lawless in the moral and the spiritual side. Even with our technological advances in the medical and scientific fields they are as much of a curse as a blessing. Computers make it easier to find cancer and other diseases but they also eliminate jobs, weapons capable of world destruction, and pornography at one’s finger tips.
Now Progress how do u define progress?
As change ?
What kind? Form oxen to cars to planes?
Man’s clothes, food, toys, instruments of productions, and some pleasures have changed. But has man changed. We use to fight with bows not m-16’s and atom bombs. Crime hasn’t lessened nor divorce, teen pregnancy, pornography sales nor and other things on the list above.
So I ask you, where is our progress?
Progress requires a legitimate end that should be the righteousness of our lord Jesus Christ.
In genesis 18:16
Abraham Pleads for Sodom
16 When the men got up to leave, they looked down toward Sodom, and Abraham walked along with them to see them on their way. 17 Then the LORD said, "Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do? 18 Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and all nations on earth will be blessed through him. 19 For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just, so that the LORD will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him."
20 Then the LORD said, "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous 21 that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know."
22 The men turned away and went toward Sodom, but Abraham remained standing before the LORD. [e] 23 Then Abraham approached him and said: "Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked? 24 What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare [f] the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it? 25 Far be it from you to do such a thing—to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge [g] of all the earth do right?"
26 The LORD said, "If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake."
27 Then Abraham spoke up again: "Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, though I am nothing but dust and ashes, 28 what if the number of the righteous is five less than fifty? Will you destroy the whole city because of five people?"
"If I find forty-five there," he said, "I will not destroy it."
29 Once again he spoke to him, "What if only forty are found there?"
He said, "For the sake of forty, I will not do it."
30 Then he said, "May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak. What if only thirty can be found there?"
He answered, "I will not do it if I find thirty there."
31 Abraham said, "Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, what if only twenty can be found there?"
He said, "For the sake of twenty, I will not destroy it."
32 Then he said, "May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?"
He answered, "For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it."
33 When the LORD had finished speaking with Abraham, he left, and Abraham returned home.
As u see in this Verse Abraham talked the number down from 50, to 45, to 40, to 30, 20, TO 10. For only ten righteous people god would spare the towns. Where is the righteous in America? Not religious we have plenty in America, not evangelical, catholic, Baptist, Methodist, conservative, or orthodox. But righteous.
Where are the righteous?
Where are the ones that take Jesus at his word, who know and follow him, who conform to what he taught, where are they.
The ones who “seek first the kingdom of god and his righteousness?”
Those who call him lord but who also do what he says?
“Your are the salt of the Earth. But if the salt losses its saltiness how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled by men” (Matthew 5:13)
God wants us to seek first his kingdom. Not our own benefits or the progress of our career. That is what is wrong with the world today. Everything is focused on sex. Don’t believe me look at the cover of Cosmo, Time, People, US Today. In every magazine there is an article of how to “please your man” or someone’s new sex scandal, or new hot things…. This is why America it where it is at today. As Christians we must guard our heart, our eyes, and our minds the world surrounds us with things to lust after and teaches you that if u are kind and considerate, u will not be on top. If u don’t look out for number one you will lose. But brothers in sisters in Christ we are called higher than that.
In Matthew (5:14-16) Jesus said, “14 You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on a stand, and it gives light to everyone in the whole house.16 In the same away let your light shine before all men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your father above.”
As the light of the world it is our duty to reflect Christ in all we do to have integrity doing the right thing when no one is looking cause God always is watching.
