PSP users!

Yeah, it's so hard to explain the gameplay of Rez. I still don't understand it, but it's a heck of alot of fun. And yeah, the Dreamcast is one of the best systems ever made in my opinion, very often overlooked too (so sad).

Off-topic: Speaking of underappreciated games and the Dreamcast, I'm playing Ikaruga on the Gamecube, a crazy difficult 2d style space shooter (remember those?) with lustrious 3d graphics and deceptively deep gameplay, which, like Rez, was released first on the DC and then released later on the GC. It's a beaut....if you can find it. I had to buy my copy off of Ebay, but I was so infatuated with the look and idea of the game, I bought without even owning a GC. (!!!)

Oh, and Chu Chu Rocket was released on Dreamcast too!

AHH! *runs screaming around the room* Ikaruga is one of the five best shoot-em-ups (up there with Radiant Silvergun for the Sega Saturn) EVER. As you likely guessed, I have a copy for the Dreamcast. w00t for broadband, Dreamcast Forums, and a CD burner!

Sorry, sorry, this is getting way off-topic. Perhaps we should start a thread dedicated to the Dreamcast and its unrealized awesomeness?

Shucks, Kraniac... you tore apart my entire post with all the precision of a neurosurgeon. I guess I should've expected such things from someone who just recently purchased a PSP, and is still hyper about its "newness". :p

Let's be realistic about the movies. Would you really want to watch something the length of a movie, holding that device and staring at the small screen? That may work for games, but movies are a different animal. I find myself getting very uncomfortable holding something like that and just watching (with extended periods of non-interaction). Maybe that's just me, and I'm fine with that.

As too it's bulkiness... It won't fit in my pants pocket, whereas the GBA SP will. Since I don't intend to hold the thing all-day in my hands, and I don't normally carry a bag with me, the size of the device creates a large problem for me in terms of simply transporting the device easily and comfortably.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad you like it (after all you paid for it), but it just doesn't work for me. :(

re: GBA SP...just a quick comment, I really don't think anybody (even Nintendo themselves) are going to be able to beat the GBA SP when it comes to industratial design. Sure, the headphone adapter thing was a little janky, but really, that device was so well designed, built specifically for it's use as a portable game machine. It's *incredibly* small and the games you could get on it were *incredibly* good. Large screen, responsive buttons, pretty good internal speaker, back lit screen...yup, perfect design.

As for the movies...well, portable DVDs are popular, I don't see why this kind of functionality might go unused by somebody who really likes convergence in their gadgets.

I didn't mean to tear apart your post, I was just giving a review of my personal experiences with my new toy. You will note that I agreed with your call on the movies-- they're impractical. Movies shouldn't have been included as one of the PSP's features.

And yes, everyone should have a chance to bask in the pure glory that is Rez.

I am very glad they included the movie feature for PSP. Once somebody develops a hard drive for it, I'll have a much cheaper version of a Portable Video Player that can play games too.

Yes. One right out of the box, but it's not quite dead, it's just twitching. It still responds to green or blue fine, but the red's borked, so anytime it's supposed to display white it displays cyan, and anytime it's supposed to be red it's black. I have another one that went dead about a week after I bought it. Since then though, I haven't seen any more.

Oh no! You should return it and try to get a new one. I hope sony is fixing their errors and putting out more consistent screens.

Too late now. Anyway, it's hardly as annoying or intrusive as it sounds. You don't even notice unless you're really looking for it.

You're probably right, but still sony should make their screens higher quality. I read so many people complaining about dead pixels. Hopefully by the time I get one they have that all worked out. By the way, are you enjoying it? What games do you have now?
