Solo PvE W/Mo Ettin Farmer

Purpose:
This is a very simple build to learn and is a great way for new farmers to earn money. It's primary purpose is to unlock runes/sell them for profit. The ettins are notorious for dropping armor with runes. I usually yield 3-5 Gold armors each run which takes me about 45 minutes for a full pack. The rest of the armors are usually purple and blue. I do not pick up clean armors. This is a really good way to farm runes. It has yielded me with about 4 superior vigors, 1 superior absorption, numerous superior monk runes, and many many others. I have unlocked all but a couple runes using this method. All I am missing is a Superior ranger and superior elementalist rune. I'm impatient so I always sell to the Rune trader. Any rune that is priced at 100g I do not salvage and just sell to the merchant as unsalvaged runes will sell for more than a useless salvaged rune.

Skills(sword):
Sever artery
Gash
Galrath Slash
Hundred Blades [E]
Balthazars Spirit
Live Vicariously
Healing Breeze
Sprint

Attributes:
Healing 10
Strength 12
Swordsmanship 12

Skills(axe):
Dismember
Axe Twist
Eviscerate[E]
Cyclone Axe
Balthazars Spirit
Live Vicariously
Healing Breeze
Sprint

Attributes:
Healing 10
Strength 12
Axe Mastery 12

Equipment:
Any armor, a Sword/axe(your preferance), and a strength based shield.

Start off at D'Allesio Seaboard. leave the outpost and sprint your way past the tengu and imps and head for the ascalon settlement. Once there Cast Balth's spirit and Live Vicariously. This will allow you to gain health on every hit and it helps you regain energy and adrenaline whenever you get hit. The large area out front of the settlement has a large number of Gypsie Ettins. They have multiple spawn setups so fight your way all the way along the edge of the beach until you cannot see anymore. Once you think you have cleared them all sprint back to the settlement and zone into Nebo Terrace, turn around and rezone into North Kryta Province. Just repeat until you have a full inventory of Ettin Pauldrons.

Things to note:
Do not agro more than 4 ettins at a time, any more and it becomes difficult to stay alive. Also try not to engage the bog skales as they will cast price of failure on you which will make it hard to fight the ettins. If they do agro you, sprint away and wait untill their spells wear off before engaging the ettins. In my experience the 25% chance of missing caused by price of failure is more like a 75% chance.

Shagz's Minion Master/Pseudo Healer

Purpose:
Unlike a typical, dedicated minion master, this build makes minions, does a little damage and heals/de-hexes/de-poisons, etc. your teammates w/ cheap monk spells, all powered through your soul-reaping. It's a good build for when a monk primary isn't available and the healing requirements for your team aren't extreme.

Skills:
Animate Bone Horror
Deathly Swarm
Vigorous Spirit
Orison of Healing
Healing Breeze
Heal Area
Mendl Ailments/Remove Hex (find Ailments is more useful, and recharges faster)
Restore Life

Attributes:
Split your attribute points amongst Death Magic, Healing and Soul Reaping, in that order. My current settings, at Lvl 19, are Death Magic 10, Healing 10 and Soul Reaping 7 (not including Runes).

Equipment:

Cheap: Any armor, any single-handed weapon (preferably with some energy), and a collector grim cesta, available near Bettletun, that gives you +8 Energy and halves casting and recharge time of Death Magic spells (10%). Requires 6 Death Magic and can be picked up by trading 4 Mergoyle Skulls.

Enhancements/Expensive: bloodstained boots, Bortak's Bone Staff

Notes:
- Add "Blood of the Master" in place of Mend Ailments/Remove Hex if you want to keep your horrors alive a little longer/want to step in close to a clump of horrors and heal only them, but generally speaking it's better just to keep moving through the area you're in, find the next Mob and use Heal Area just before sending in "the army". A newly risen Minion is easier to maintain than one that's been alive for too long. Mend Ailments/Remove Hex will also make you more friends. :)

- Use Vigorous Spirit on Warriors so they can effecitely "heal themselves" and use Orison and Healing Breeze on your team's magic users *before* they get into trouble with their health. Hopefully your warriors and fiends will provide enough agro that your magic users won't ever need it.

- As soon as you see a soul reaping energy plum pop off above your head, fire off bone fiend to get another creature in the mix.

- Cast Deathly Swarm into a crowd while you're waiting for Bone Fiend
and Heal Spells to recharge, or on first engaging the enemy; this will also help speed up mob deaths so you'll get more energy back w/ soul reaping.

- You could use "Animate Bone Fiend" but Horrors are better. You want melee fighters and horrors running in and drawing fire from whatever melee attackers you're taking on. Fiends won't draw fire because they fire from a distance, so the melee baddies will come after you or one of your vulnerable magic users. Horrors can take more damage than Fiends anyways, which is really what you want them to do; they're "canon fodder" more or less, leaving your teammates free to cause the *real* haavoc.

- this build works well for me where I'm using it, about half way, 3/4rs through the game. In later levels, you'll probably have to be more specialized and swap out healing spells for Verata's Sacrifice with Infuse Condition for better healing of minions, losing your role as a "pseudo-monk"

Halonic's PvP Monk Build

I want to post Halonic's build here because I think it is da bomb- it is solid, simple to play and perfect for players who are relatively new to PvP monking. I did have to spend about 6K faction to buy the skills I needed for it, but thankfully it doesn't require any elites. And it was really worth it because this build ROCKS - it is easy to play and SO COOL to be able to just stand there and let the warrior waste his time pounding on you. Though I had no sup vigor runes or any of the ub8r items Halonic mentioned, the first time I got in a decent team in random arenas with this build I won three flawless in a row. Would have won more but for a mouse lock-up. Anyway, here it is:

Halonic's "Stayin Alive PvP Monk Build"

Fact: Monks are primo targets in PvP. Fact: A dead Monk doesn't heal very well.

With those two things in mind I have been experimenting with a PvP Monk build that gives me a chance to stay alive longer and hopefully throw out a few more heals in the process. Please take it and tweak it or criticize it any way you want. PvP builds always remain a work in progress.

No Superior runes except Superior Vigor. More health=better chance to live. With a Brohn's Staff you will have 590 health and 47 energy. Wenslauss Faith will give you 560 health and 52 energy. I usually start with Wenslauss and switch when I take damage.

Mesmer secondary is vital to this build as you will see.

Attributes:
14 Healing Prayers
10 Divine Favor
9 Inspiration Magic
3 Domination Magic

Rez Signet
Healing Breeze
Orison of Healing
Healing Touch
Signet of Devotion (note that all 4 of these healing spells will also allow you to self heal)
Physical Resistance (+40 armor against warriors beating on you)
Hex Breaker
Mantra of Resolve (you cant be interrupted for 66 seconds)

[Dorkelf's comment: The only thing I would add to what Halonic said is that the elemental resistance armor probably makes sense, because when you use the Phys Resist skill you take a big hit to your elemental resistance.]

Traptershock E/R

Earth Magic: 16 (12+4)
Air Magic: 5 (4+1)
Wilderness Survival: 11

Skills:
Spike Trap
Barbed Trap
Gale
Aftershock
Obsidian Flame
(Ward against...)
Skill of Choice
Rez Signet

3 of these guys can spike a soft target into oblivion with a triple Aftershock, which should do, IIRC, 163 damage apiece. Follow it up with 3 Obsidian Flames for 112 apiece of the target is still standing.

This build is meant to be a coordinated caster killer. First lay Spike Trap-- two may get interrupted, three won't. The trap will do about 50 damage and knock down the target. As soon as the target is down, the three Aftershocks hit for a combined 489. Hit Spike Trap when available because your other knockdown, Gale, causes exhaustion. The biggest drawback is that after two Gale spikes (or Obsidian Flames), exhaustion will become a factor.

This build works extremely well with a Mantra trapper as a 4th damage dealer.

W/N ViM Knight

Skils:
Savage Slash
Sever Artery
Gash
Final Thrust
"Victory is Mine!"
Healing Signet
Plague Signet
Ressurection Signet

Attributes:
Strength: 11 (10+1)
Swordsmanship: 12 (10+1+1)
Tactics: 11 (10+1)

Armor:
Platemail chest
Duelists Helm
Knight's Boots
(either glad and/or beserker leggings and gauntlets)

basic idea is too keep as many conditions on your opponent and using them to replenish health and energy. works best with Canthan Targe (preorder shield)
any ideas to improve, I'd love to hear them

Can someone post their UW 55 Monk build here with secondary and attributes please. Its been so long since I've done it I've lost my build notes. Thanks.

My 55 monk and halonics necromancer had some fun today. 2 man uw farming is a easy job for the necromancer.

Necromancer:
Awaken the blood
Blood ritual
Spiteful spirit
Sympathetic Visage
Empathy
Signet of weariness
Arcane echo
Rez signet

Illusion - 10
Blood - 9
Curses - 16

Monk(needs sup runes on every armor and -50 offhand):

Protective Spirit
Healing Breeze
Spell Breaker
Blessed Signet
Balthazaars Spirit
Blessed Aura
Mending
Bonnetti's Defense

Healing 13
Smithing (N/A in this except for balthazars spirit points count toward adrenaline) 9
Prot Prayers 14
Divine 12
Tactics 2

The above 55 monk is my build. If anyone wants to farm uw as 2 or 3 man let me (divine serendipity is my monk) and halonic(necro build above) know. Even Nukers are welcome!

I found this on an old thread here

Also, here is my 55 necro build (I got the info from Shoe On Fire):

Blood Skills: 5 = 2 base + Superior Blood Rune ( for -50 offhand req)
Death Skills: 3 = 0 base + Superior Death Rune
Soul Reaping: 4 = 1 base + Superior Soul Reaping Rune
Curses: 16 = 12 base + Curse Face Scar + Superior Curses Rune
Healing Prayers: 8
Protection Prayers: 10

UW SKILLS

1. Protective Spirit
2. Healing Breeze
3. GUARDIAN
4. Spiteful Spirit
5. Shadow of Fear
6. Essence Bond
7. Balthazar's Spirit
8. Mending

For desert farming, I rarely use Guardian or Shadow of Fear. Shadow of fear is a cover hex (w/ same recharge as SS) for smites to protect the SS from the Smite Hex that the smites use. Guardian is for the ataaxes.

Could someone post the barrage pet build for Tomb Ruins?

Ranger B/P (Barrage/Pet) Build for Tombs

Ranger/Mo (marksmanship and vigor are the only 2 superiors in my build.......resulting in 485 health)

Marksmanship 16
Wilderness 10
Expertise 10
Beast Mastery 3

Skills:

Rebirth
Troll Unguent
Barrage
Throw Dirt
Whirling Defense
Charm Animal
Comfort Animal
Either Winnowing or Favorable Winds or Distracting Shot

Winnowing & Favorable Winds are the only 2 spirits required on this run. Groups usually do a "spirit check" before leaving to ascertain who has these two. Take Distracting Shot if other party members have the spirits covered. DS is needed on the Wurms and especially on the Terrorweb Dryders who cast Meteor Shower.

You will spam Barrage as quickly and as often as possible throughout the entire run.

Do not take pet skills and put only the few leftover attribute points into Beast Mastery. The pets are there to provide corpses for the MM.

The skill you will use least is Whirling Defense. If you have a favorite skill thats not in my build, this is the slot to sub it for.

Thanks Derk for the 55 build. I couldn't remember what I did with it and couldn't find one to suit me on Guru.
