Red Alert 3

I Enjoy playing RA 3, I know many reviews Bad mouth the copy protection and the DRM but I have had Zero problems so far
I didn't realize RA3 came with DRM.

I just lost all interest in buying the game. :(

After the Spore debacle, I think I'll wait for Dawn of War 2 or Starcraft II, even if the DRM on RA3 is less strict.

Unfortunately Many games in the future will have a DRM, just one more way for them to make money in my opinion[ considering how many people keep a receipt for a few years] .
Although a DRM or copy protection, reguardless of which type] will ever stop me from purchasing a game I like, I mean if you think about it most of the complainers are the ones abusing the system and ruining it for the Honest Gamers, But all have to be treated equally so we have to have it implemented upon us as well:(, A shame really, I hope you can get a copy of RA 3, I am really getting into the Plot of the single player[Which may also be played in coop online], has so many twists, spies and deceptions you wonder WHO the Bad ones are in the game, but its fun :)

I'm sure Red Alert 3 is a great game; it looks like a ton of fun. But I decided when EA released Spore with DRM that I would not support a company that tied what is essentially malware into its products and still charged the full standard retail price.

I'll still gladly approve a Red Alert 3 chapter if/when a member volunteers for the Chapter Leader position, but I won't be purchasing the game until/unless EA re-issues the game without DRM.

I know many share your views on this subject Tek, but Maybe EA and other Companies will listen when their Money flow starts to dwindle[doubtful]. I would imagine the only True way to stop Illegal copying is to Ban Dvd or Cd burners for the Pc, and thats not going to happen either. I think that the Developers are in a experimental phase to see what works best, and when they find it then all games will have that protection.
I also think many confuse a DRM[Digital Rights Management] with the copy protection problems, EA uses a DRM on every Digital game thats downloaded using the EADM in the EA Store[but its called the EXTENDED DOWNLOAD SERVICE, this means if you or I purchase a game using the EADM and fail to purchase the EDS for $5.99 then 2 years later you can no longer download the game you purchased[this became effective early 2007] which most gamers are unaware of.
Even D2D uses DRM's :copied from thier Faq forum:

So, if I download a purchase what makes it mine and mine alone?
Our products are protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM). These are systems in place to license your purchase to you only. It keeps it safe and gives you the exclusive ownership of that purchase.

How many licenses or activations do I get?
All licensing has a limit to the number of simultaneous activation to protect the product. However our customer service will see to it that should you encounter a need for more licenses that you are accommodated.

Even though the companies do not openly say there is a DRM its in the fine print.
My Issue is with SecuRom in which I have had games that are recognized as Copies or says that there is a Virtual Drive on my pc or many other problems.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Securom

SecuROM is a CD/DVD copy protection product, most often used for computer games running under Microsoft Windows, developed by Sony DADC. SecuROM aims to resist home media duplication devices, professional duplicators, and reverse engineering attempts. The newest versions (v4 and up) prevent 1:1 CD-R copies from being made. Certain programs can circumvent its protection. The use of SecuROM is highly controversial because certain aspects of the protection are similar to functions of malware, and users are not always informed when SecuROM is included with a product.[1] A class action suit has been filed against Electronic Arts for this very issue.[2]

SecuRom, can be used to install a Root kit which may be used to gather private information from our pc's and transmitted unknowingly to the Game company, certain versions are much worse than others.

I meant by no means to instigate a argument or heated discussion[because this is a touchy subject to many], But this is why I am not against a DRM:p

This week, don’t just limit your animal interaction to eating turkey – launch parachuting war bears and play nice with dangerous dolphins in the single player demo for Command & Conquer Red Alert 3. Available for download now and at GameSpot.com, this demo for the PC includes the game’s cinematic opening, three tutorials and two full campaign missions. Downloading the demo will give YOU a chance to experience the unique, fun, over-the-top universe of Red Alert 3 ahead of the game’s first major content patch, which includes the powerful WorldBuilder editor, balance fixes and a de-authorization tool that will allow users to de-authorize previously authenticated versions of Red Alert 3 on machines they no longer wish to use.

The single-player demo includes the entire 7-minute opening cinematic from the game, along with three of the game’s interactive tutorials and one campaign mission from both the Soviet and the Allied campaigns for a full-blown taste of Red Alert action:

* Krasna-45: Circus of Treachery – The second mission of the Soviet campaign, players will immediately be introduced to battling the series’ newest faction, the Empire of the Rising Sun, escorting the Soviet’s commando Natasha to a launch facility, protecting her from the Imperial ambush division waiting to attack.
*

* Heidelberg: The Famous Liberation – Players will then switch their attention over to the Allied cause, in the third mission in the Allied campaign, teaming up with an in-game Co-Commander to take out the Soviet’s powerful Iron Curtain and headquarters in Germany.

The demo gives gamers a great opportunity to try out Red Alert 3 before the game’s first major patch is released later this year. The upcoming update will include the WorldBuilder, the game’s map-making and mod tool and a community favorite, enhancements to AutoMatch for multiplayer, balance fixes and an easy-to-use de-authorization tool that will allow players to de-authorize previously authenticated machines that they no longer wish to play Red Alert 3 on, ultimately giving them the freedom to play on an unlimited number of computers. More details on the patch will be made available soon.

Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 is available in stores now for the PC and Xbox 360, featuring the genre’s first co-operative campaign, an increased emphasis on naval warfare and the series’ trademark live-action movie sequences, starring largest and most talented cast in the history of video games including Jenny McCarthy, George Takei, Tim Curry, J.K. Simmons, Randy Couture, Gina Carano, Autumn Reeser, Kelly Hu and Gemma Atkinson.
