Reuesting permission to resume my work here!

I would like to raise one point - the purpose of this forum has clearly changed since we migrated over from Cheryl's domain. I am recently returned here, but I was active on this forum for many years as Mr_Eon where I acted as a goodwill ambassador from the world outside.

Here we discussed many things about my faith, your faith and faith in general. I liked to think of it as forging a sword of beliefs at the interface where Morals and Ethics meet - and I enjoyed it greatly. At no time did I demean another person (intentionally) but I did demean ideas and the manner used to express and defend them, if I thought these were worthy of derision.

From reading Tek7's large post towards the end of Adelpits ban thread, a strict interpretation of his stance as Moderator here would remove that fine line that I used to walk, wiping out the little marginal ecosystem within which I survived. Before I get comfy here again, I would like to know whether I am welcome to behave as I always did in the past - acting as a gadfly, stinging the intellectually lazy into re-examining their ideas and beliefs. I don't believe I changed the path of a a single person whilst I was here - but I do believe I forced a more rigorous study and appreciation of beliefs, and perhaps encouraged the idea that we all have something to learn from those who hold different ideas than our own.

So, seeing as how the climate here seems to have changed I would, in the manner of my ancestors, know now before the membership and the staff, whether I am welcome or not.

All I can say is...I've missed not having you on here. What you wrote is EXACTLY what I tell people about these forums and about you. "Hey. There's this non-Christian dude on our forums. He's Asatru. This guy has been challenging me, and he had me researching, examining, looking things up...I learned about areas of Christianity I never cared to examine previously. Plus, he has given me an understanding of other religions I had never even heard of before." I'm not quite sure why I wrote all that. I guess just to say your insight and challenges have been positive for me. Plus, you not only participate here, but you also participate in the gaming forums as well. So we get to know you on multiple levels.

I honestly haven't been reading the religious forum in a few weeks because there were about 20 new posts every 10 minutes and I couldn't keep up with it all. Looks like things have calmed down drastically.

Thanks SSquared - that means a lot to me. I long ago accepted the fact that my chances of changing someone's ideas online are VERY low (although if anyone is interested in learning the old ways, I'm always available) but I did notice a heightened level of respect for others while I was here - provided I also respected you guys and your right to believe as you do.

I think here, we have always been respectful of what everybody is free to believe. Provided, that respect is returned.

Eon you must anderstand that we had some rude people on here talking gibberish, cutting us down, and being outright rude, they were insulting our members and had to be turned loose. You are most welcome here.

Now we just need Kohael and it will be like ol' times.

Glad to have you back Eon.

That was mostly in response to the Adelpit guy, who was a complete...um...I don't know...idiot? moron? No words could decribe his complete lack of manners or rational intelligence.

Welcome back Eon. You have no idea how much a breath of fresh air it was to read your post, in all honesty. After people like adelpit and Leo, one tends to look at "gadflies" with an unwavering skepticism, but I know that you have intelligent points to make, as you have made in the past, and in a respectful manner.

yeah adelpit was pretty demeaning to me. and leo wouldt let things go. but ya im glad ur here. it was sad last week i checked every 30 min and noone posted on anything i had posted on. glad to have another person here.

:P Eon's rhetoric is at least, easier to read than adelpit's half CAPS, half lowercase confusing discourses... >.<

Mmm, the logical interpretations of Eon, mmmmmm.

Comes in two flavors, vanilla and chocolate. ^,^

You always managed to challenge me to think things through to make sure I didn't make an idiot of myself amongst my brethren.

You also always told it how it was, but still had the openness to theorize and such.

Welcome back, comrade.

I meant the kind quoted.. ooh.. I quoted my post -That's from the merriam-webster online dictionary btw. It was meant to be a compliment...

Cultural difference, nothing more. You're right - according to the dictionary definition it's a compliment. Taken as such with my thanks.

Wow, Eon. You were on another sabbatical? Still from Amsterdam, or was this different?
Anywho...you may recognize this youthful face as the shame of the elders. Welcome again, and you have always been courteous in your wit...I enjoy reading and replying to you, and the fact that you still remain Eon and Astaru or Ashitakaru (I think the first one is it, right?) or whatever it is (not to be flippant of your spiritual devotion) just goes to show some things never change, and for that, despite that I would see you as one of God's...it's awesome that you're still alive and as sharp in the mind as ever.
