After a lot of thought and deliberation, we’ve decided to remove the attunement requirements to enter Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep: The Eye. While many of our attunements in the Burning Crusade have been good progression checks, a few of the attunements have turned out to cause unnecessary stress on guilds either doing the content or attempting to do the content. With Black Temple and Battle for Mount Hyjal thriving, we want to encourage (rather than prevent) new guilds and raid groups to attempt Serpentshrine and TK. We are going to leave the current attunement quests in the game so that players can still engage in the challenge and the lore of those quests should they choose to. At a later point, we are considering adding a final reward step to those quests as well (that way those who have already completed them would not miss out on a *new* reward).

We’re listening to feedback from you guys constantly and your opinions are important to us. We want this game to be the best possible MMO experience for our players.

Enjoy Serpentshrine and Tempest Keep =)

Is there a "catch" that I'm not picking up on? Seems kind of odd to think that any raid could just walk right in.

Nope, I was looking at a guild site that Valk is in now, Dan's playing her, and they walked into TK: The Eye last night and downed the first boss, Valk healed in there. I know that when I gave Valk to Dan she hadn't done any of the attunement quests and that was just over a week ago, I can't believe he's finished all of them for TK. But I do know that if you can't down Gruul your DPS and healing have no chance in TK or SSC.

After heading to Gruuls layer last night and downing High King Maulgar, a few of the raid members had to leave for the evening. So, with 18 of us, we went over to SSC. First, just so you all know, the Spore Bats are sheepable but are immune to sleep effects. And 2nd, be sure to bring all 25 people. lol. We downed only 1 mob out of the first group with 18 people, only 2 of which were tanks and 1 mage (me, w00t).

The catch is, they knew I couldn't go for the next 8 months due to work anyhow, so lifting the attunement requirements was just a further way for them to make me sad :)
