Anybody with a high level shaman, please answer me this: Is purge supposed to be able to interupt spell casting?
 
I dont believe so, but I think I heard that there may be gear or talents that can add a chance to interrupt spells...?

Im not sure. I never had a problem with purge as an interrupter.
 
Yesterday, during many of my solo vs shaman ordeals they were interupting my spells, one after another and the only thing I could be sure of was being purged, even when I had no purgable buffs up.

I'm going to start frapsing my 1v1 against shamans to be sure.

And it wasn't earthshock.
 
Yeah i thot so too; I started a shaman on Aegwyn, and when i try casting purge on everything I see it says "nothing to dispel," kinda like what happens when i try to cleanse myself with no debuffs on.

Shocks have a very quick cooldown; 5 seconds i believe. So basically if they catch you in the middle of a spell (with even a rank 1) once, you probably wont be casting anything non-instant for quite a while since each earthshock is a mini counterspell.
 
Yeah, looks like its Earth Shock. Mind blast should have that interupt as well, when you think about it, mind blast turns the targets brains to mush for a second.
