should I drop LW for JC ?

Hey all,

I just got my LW to 450 and now am heavily considering switching it out for JC.

I tend to use my professions more for self betterment than gaining wealth. (but perhaps if I had JC I'd do it for wealth as well) For WOTLK I pretty much used my LW for stat boosts to bracers and legs -- thats about it.

OTOH I, just like everybody else, heavily use gems. I feel like I would get a lot more out of having a JC than I get out of a LW.

I havent read much about the 4.0 version of the professions, but my assumption is they will remain relatively the same. Having similar new bonuses to those in WOTLK ie LW will still have the best bonus for bracers etc.

Has any one seen anything in the last couple months (Most recent info I could find was from May and very preliminary) on either of those professions? Other opinions on this choice in front of me?

Saw that LW will have some of the early lvl 85 PVP gear, that does not interest me much.

(i'd probably switch my alt's gathering profession of herbalism to mining to help with lvling JC if I did this. Keeping skinning on my main)

The gems do give the best stat boosts overall. You can always find somebody to craft the gear. Keep in mind that most of what you're seeing out of Cata now is equal to fresh 80 stuff. Crafting professions have always had the starter gear and some of the BiS pieces. You just have to get the recipes.
 
No one should have JCing but me. You all are ruining my market.

PS BBQSox - you signature changed like ten times while I was typing this. It was somewhat amazing.
 
I have a sickening amount of alts. Most of which are for the pure purpose of making me money. When I wanted a JC, I dropped skinning and just bought all my mats. It can be spendy, but when Cata hits you'll be able to rake in the cash quick. Have fun joining in the undercut game!

I personally would just start an alt and make him/her your JC. If I worked so hard on a profession, I won't cancel it to start all over again for another one, but that's just me. I'm sure LWs have some nice patches that enhance your toon's abilities.
 
sorry, but to legs? i understand the advantage of having the extra boost to bracers since no one else can do it...but there is no advantage of having LW for leg enchants other than being able to make it yourself. the advantage is purely convenience and gold based. the bracer enchant, however, is LW specific.

right. legs is just a convenience.
