ShoutLast: Solid Rock Radio

Well we're currently looking for some good ol' help from everything from moderating forums, recording sound for the shows, system administrators, people who like music!, coders, graphic artists - basically anything you can think of that a christian radio station would need.. and a whole lot more.

We need you!

We're setting up 12 different stations across canada..

I'm a gamer myself.. sort of why I seek out 'fellow christian gamers' - the younger crowd.. then again we have a few oldies as well.

Anyways.. if you're looking for something to do.. and not seeking money (yet, we can't pay people until the station is physically setup, then we'll have various full-time positions available..) and don't mind being paid in bandwidth, server usage, free webhosting, and a nice cool addition to your resume..

please contact me!

keep up the great gaming folks

I like that word 'use'!

Perfect placement..

Well.. we could use your help if you are interested. All sorts of things need done.. + we need a few project managers and people who are interested in using their minds.

Rock.. not the deathmetal stuff.. er.

You can check it out at http://www.shoutlast.org

All sorts of good stuff playing - and we now have Tom from pure-fun.com helping us do some reviews and whatnot over the air.

Let me know if anyone is interested in helping out!

Rock on (pun intended).

I think I've already posted an invite to induct ShoutLast into the Christian Gamers Alliance as an affiliate, but I've read and replied to so many posts tonight that I can't remember. ^_^;; So, at the risk of repeating myself, I'd like to induct ShoutLast into the CGA as an affiliate.

fac3less - If you could e-mail me at tek7 AT cgalliance DOT org, I'd like to chat with you about what affiliation entails and also about other projects we could work together on.

Not sure what you mean by Fuzzy Dead_aim, you could try getting the 'mp3Pro' plugin for winamp if you use that

I'll cntact you immediately tek7.

Sorry for the late reply.. I didn't notice anyone reply to this forum (and i've been very busy the past few days)

hey fac3less, please talk to me on aim lonelypilgrim03 or talk to my in steam billy_whazzup[at]hotmail.com, (thats my msn too..) or in our irc channel on gamesurge.net #fls I posted on here before offering to help, but i guess i never hit the post button.. and then my computer restarted..

Wow, nice website. I'd like to help with this whole thing somehow, but um...I'm underway right now, and my computer isn't set up, so :-p.

Looks like the place is running some reall goodies on the playlist. Wish I could listen to it right now, but it looks like I'll have to wait till I get home. I doubt our internet connection could support it, even if WMP did (What bitrate(s) do you stream at?).

Have you thought about setting up a second "heavier" stream ;-)? Not sure what all's required for something like that, but I've got my own VPS with 2 gigs of storage space, and 30GB bandwidth allowed per month. It's running RedHat 8.0. I don't know too much about it, but I'd be willing to learn if there's something I can use it for.

We've always thought about setting up multiple streams.

We used to have 3 seperate streams but we cut back to one.

96Kbps (Mp3Pro) is quite fine though for what we're using it for

It would be nice to have you come help us out.. we have all sorts of things that need some work.

All for Jesus.

So, no interest in a heavy rock/metal stream, eh :-)? Oh well...

What about using my server as a mirror for the current stream, only for lower bitrates (i.e. 24kbps or 36kbps) that dialup users could connect to? I'm sure there's some kind of software to convert bitrate on demand, it'd just have to be found. There's also the issue of having the stream re-encoded by that software at the VPS's end...I think it should be okay as long as it doesn't take up 100% of the server's CPU time at once.

Just get me the software (running RedHat Linux 8.0, like I said), tell me how to work it, and as long as there are no complaints from the host, we're golden :-).
