Some body help me before I shoot my computer

Ok so I just got super fast broadband (which over here is like 1.00mbps) so not really that supper. Anyway i have been connecting to the internet via my wifi when this morning my wifi button disappeared from my windows xp toolbar (with the wifi disabled). I have tried everything to get it back but can't. Please help me before i go out of my mind.

And what is your wifi connected to, your router/hub/wireless network?

Its possible there is a WEP key that was put in which blocked you out.
 
Hmm... I kind of remember that happening to me. Go to control panel and look through your connections. Start back up the wifi. That might work.
 
You probably disabled the network adapter. Go to control panel -> network connections and right click the wireless adapter and click enable. While your there you might want to go into the properties and select the option to always show it in the task bar.
 
Remember this: No computer is beyond fixing for free...unless you drop a magnet on it...seriously...I had someone call and tell me they accidentally dropped a magnet on the computer... O.o ...I had to ask him if he was serious...

Magnets usually don't have an effect on the hard disk unless you are using ceramic or electromagnets. However backing up your data and running a raid 1 will save you hours/days of hassles down the road.

No I actually fixed it. Which is not bad for someone with nill knowledge of computers...

Ok truth was I did a desktop search for intel PRO/SET wireless and up pooped the switch..
 
I have had problems with the intel pro set drivers dropping the connection. Usually a reboot and a 15 minute wait fixes the problem. Of course, better drivers would probably be the best. :D

and while we are on the topic of backups, my $0.02 would be off-site backup > any other back up option.
