This Guild is... (originally written by Pastori)
Multi-Denominational Christian. This means several things:

1. That we are to respect any beliefs that can be supported by the Bible, including but not limited to:

Free Will vs Predestination
Once Saved Always Saved vs Possibility of Losing Salvation
Pre-, Mid-, or Post-Trib Rapture
Certain passages literal vs figurative interpretation

2. Certain things are core to belief in Christianity. They include:
That Jesus is the only path to Salvation
That the Bible is God's Word passed down through generations
That Jesus died on the cross and rose again from the grave in victory over sin and death, as documented in the Bible and hundreds of independent historical documents

3. That there will be no bashing of any denomination or individual belief

4. That we will not question anyone's salvation.

5. Intelligent discussion that leads to disagreement is OK. That's why we have so many denominations. We can agree to disagree and still be brothers and sisters in Christ.

All guilds, members (officers and leaders alike), and guests have agreed to this statement and violation of rules or policy may result is punitive measurements that include, but not limited to, a kick.

Chat Guidelines

Due to several issues, I have written up the following guidelines for the use of the Alliance Chat channel. I have posted them on the x-fire clan site forums as well.

Guild/Alliance Chat and TeamSpeak Guidelines

The topic of our guidelines for use of alliance and guild chat and TeamSpeak (TS) and the language used in those venues has come under question frequently of late. In fact, there have been numerous reports by various officers of argumentative, bordering into disrespectful, individuals questioning this policy. I have discussed it with leadership members from most of the guilds in our alliance and it was generally agreed that it was worth defining as a reminder to everyone.

Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you. - 1 Thess 5:12 (TNIV)

None of the officers in any of the alliance guild enjoys policing chat, we are not patrolling to watch for people to slip up, nor do we enjoy arguing policy with anyone who may disagree. If an officer from ANY of our alliance guilds, or for that matter, anyone, asks you to stop using certain words or phrases, PLEASE, respect that person for their beliefs and stop. In addition, if you have a question about this policy, move the conversation to whispers or open a discussion in a guild hall rather than arguing in alliance chat.

  • No use of the Lord's name in vain are allowed.
    • You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name. - Exodus 20:7 (NIV)
  • Any words filtered by the Guild Wars Chat Client Filter will not be used.
    • Alliance and Guild chat are intended to be family friendly in this alliance.
    • There are some words that may be grey areas, but if the secular community developing this game saw fit to filter the word, that is good enough for me.
    • One time uses of words in this grey area (ie "suck") especially in completely harmless context (ie "The baby is sucking on her pacifier"), or unexpected or foriegn (even when totally innocent) filtered items (Abbreviation for Well of Power - "WoP" is filtered or the company name "Sega") will be ignored, but try not to repeat them just to set off the filter.
    • Basically, if someone might be offended, don't say it and if someone asks you to stop, please be respectful and stop.
  • Any words, purposeful avoidance of the filter or abbreviations containing a filtered word or use of the Lord's name in vain will not be used.
    • To many of us, using an abbreviation has the same intent as spelling out the word. Just because you haven't spelled a word out or spelled it correctly doesn't mean you haven't used the word.
    • Even if the intent is an alternate to the commonly used word in the abbreviation, the reader does not know that. example: OMG(osh)
  • Put-down's, slams, even if meant in a friendly way, should always be used with great caution in alliance or guild chat.
    • Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. Ephesians 4:29 (New Living Translation)
    • Newer members and other guilds in the alliance may not be aware of the history and bonds of friendship between us. Taken out of this context, this type of language could be construed as hostile, especially without the benefit of tone of voice and body language. So use caution and moderation in this area.
    • Team chat, whispers or Teamspeak would typically be acceptable.
  • Serious theological discussions or any other debates should be taken to a more private setting (ie local chat in a guild hall).
    • Although I understand the desire to have more people participate, it is easy for debates to be viewed as arguments, especially to those coming into the conversation part way through or those who don't know us so well yet.
    • If such a conversation does turn into an argument, step back and remember that we are all followers of Christ and just agree to disagree.
  • Item give-aways, requests or other trade channel type comments should be limited in alliance or guild chat.
    • Helping others out with free, discounted or rare items is great, but don't let yourself become an annoyance. If no one replies after 2-3 tells over 5 minutes or so, stop.
    • Mistells are common when switching between trade and alliance chat, no problem, say "oops" or "sorry", then it's clear that it is a mistake. If you see someone do it, let it go and move on.
    • Continual begging should not be done. We are a community of friends, not a resource to fund your personal goals. Asking for a moderate amount of crafting materials or a reasonable item (i.e. max dmg bow - any mods - for my hero, not Drago's Flatbow) is acceptable as long as it is not repeated for any period of time, espcecially for an entire evening, day after day.
  • Use guild and alliance chat to gather teams for PvE/PvP or other activities.
    • Alliance and guild chat are intended to allow us to build community, please use it to communicate, friendly chat, request help, gather a team or ask questions.
    • As before, use common sense, use the channel, but don't abuse it.
Live in peace with each other. - 1 Thess 5:13b (NIV)
