Good news and bad news.
Good: They are gona take community feedback seriously now. Hopefully.
Bad: they may not have long to do that.

Their stocks have dropped 50% over the past 2 years, FFXIV was classified by many as a major failure and have sacked 10% of their staff.
Lets face it, when they say don't review this, it usually is bad.

Now while this game does have its good points, such as nice graphics, it can be somewhat... lacking otherwise.

Reportedly Square Enix is demanding the gaming press hold off publishing any reviews of Final Fantasy XIV until a month after the game’s release; unfortunately, players seem to have jumped the gun and are publishing their own less than favourable opinions of the game.

The Final Fantasy XIV Collector’s Edition is proving that things can indeed still get worse for Square Enix – fans have found the included “tumbler” to be encrusted with mould, and the safety instructions reveal the tumbler cannot be filled with most liquids or solids without risk of damage.

The latest controversy to erupt around Final Fantasy XIV consists of accusations that the game shamelessly copy-pastes the same towns and environmental elements over and over without the slightest variation, making one end of the world identical to another and subsequently devoid of character.

Square Enix has officially announced long rumoured massive cuts to its workforce, with the company set to sack 10% of its employees in a move it insists is not “restructuring” but is instead an act of “organizational invigoration.”

Massively multiplayer rat-bashing grind Final Fantasy XIV will not be appearing on the Xbox 360 “because Microsoft doesn’t want it,” says Square Enix.

Square Enix were so embarrassed by the videos that they forced YouTube to take them down (the videos had been available for several weeks prior to becoming famous, and strangely they left other less controversial gameplay videos alone); by way of replacement, here are two alternative versions, which should be just as exciting:
Oh yeah grind pathetic mobs for ages, hit a giant bird 10x and it doesn't die...

Warning site contains NSFW articles as well, and ads that may be considered offensive by some, though fully clothed... but hey all my asian RPGs are like that.

Man I'm glad I didn't buy the game.

Many of us did buy the game and are rather enjoying it... Many of these claims are ill founded...

M$ come out and said they are not allowing another MMORPG on Xbox LIVE for some time...whether it be FFXIV or otherwise...

"Copy-Pasted" world??? Are you kidding me...I found every path and turn rather unique and refreshing...

Many of these "claims" seem to be only coming from one or 2 unofficial sources...many official sources don't have these claims... :P

So someone didn't like FF14, big whoop. The game needs a lot of work, but when I did play beta, it was enjoyable. Just like Warhammer Online. Just like Champions Online. Just like every other MMO out there. Rough launches, better updates. Have the writers of the articles even bothered trying out the game?

Haters gonna hate.

Not a fan of the latest FF games, but even still I will be withholding official judgement on the MMO until at least six months down the line. That said, I won't be playing until said six months have gone by or people start saying the game's birthing pangs are over.
