Stage Collapses at Piedmont Park

You might be asking yourself right now, SO? Well it just so happens that it is Gay Pride weekend in Piedmont park in Atlanta right now. We had some wicked thunderstorms coming through the area Friday night. The stage that collapsed was the main stage for the "festival". I fully believe that this was God's way of showing his dismay for what was going on. Take from it what you will, but I must say I laughed when I had heard what had happened. And only one person was hurt, but I doubt it was bad.

Well, if it was God...then GO GOD! Now if something like that would happen at Kings Island when they had the Gay Pride day/march/what ever...

I'm a bit unsettled by the idea of taking pleasure in God allegedly raining down judgment on the homosexual community. God calls us to hate the sin but love the sinner. People face enough suffering through a sinful lifestyle (whether through various diseases or simply the psychological and emotional turmoil that inevitably results from being separated from God) that Christians have no need to point, laugh, and assume God is judging them when they suffer. Such attitudes only reinforce the popular image of American Christians holding up signs that say "God hates gays." God may hate homosexuality, but He loves homosexuals--the same way He hates drug addictions, but loves addicts.

I have a feeling that my post is going to push this into the Religious Discussion forum, but I couldn't sit by and not voice my opinion on this matter.
 
I understand your point Tek. Let me also re-state my point. I was not laughing at the person who got hurt, I was laughing at the fact that these people had what basically equates to a pagan altar, torn down by the force of nature that God controls. Kinda like when the statue of the pagan god fell on its face, prostrating itself before the true God. Again, not at the people hurt, but the idea behind God prostrating the pagan altar.
 
While I dislike the whole gay movement and wish they would put that stuff back in the closet, I cannot allow myself to judge them. Performing homosexual acts is no less a sin than having sex out of marriage...something I have done in the past. A recent sermon by one of the pastors at my church helped me realize this perspective.
 
Can we not take joy in God's victory? Must we always be apologizing? Having sinned and repented is one thing, but living your life in open rebellion to God is another.
 
Well, I live in Atlanta, so I'll weigh in on this one.

I'm thankful that no one was seriously injured in what could have been a fatal incident. I can't take pleasure in something that could have cost people their lives, especially since the vast majority would have been unsaved.

However, I am, indeed, thankful that the celebration of sin (for that is what the Pride event is) was thwarted, even if only for a few hours.

That's what I meant, I didn't want anyone to get hurt, I just wanted them to stop...
