Stem Cell Issue Rages On

Article on new stem cell technique

So, assuming that taking one of eight cells does not harm the child, assuming that the cell can actually be used for good, assuming that the eighth cell is simply duplicated naturally... is it ok?

Can't say I'm too sure on the topic. What does scripture say?

From what it sounds like, I still say no. I don't like the idea of regiment harvesting - not one bit. Just as well, embryos were killed to develop the process. Therefore it's tainted.

What do you think?

I'd stand against this. Let's face it, mankind has a death wish for the children in order to extend it's own life. It's been this way since infant sacrifices to Baal. I'd rather focus less on stem cell research and more on bringing God back into the average home. Why prolong this life when we know there is something so much better beyond it?

Adult stem cells have already been through thousands of stages of mitosis, and are not as robust as embryonic ones. It's like building with legos instead of with bricks and mortar. You can build a lot of neat things with legos, but if you want to build a building, you need the bricks.

We had to learn a lot about this issue for my genetics class last semester.

Just a note... adult stem cells have been used in several projects and shown great results. Embryonic stem cells have yet to yield any conclusive evidence they can do anything except make a baby.
