Proverbs 14:31, HCSBThe one who oppresses the poor person insults his Maker,
but one who is kind to the needy honors Him.
Scripture states that the fear (or reverence) of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. This verse in Proverbs reminds us that our response to God's call to submit our wills to His guides not only our relationship with Him but also our relationships with others. When we recognize others as fellow creations of a holy and sovereign God, it changes how we interact with others.
Let us remember this week and ever after that all people were created by a loving, merciful, and just God. If we understand this truth, let us demonstrate in as many ways as are available to us, including how we treat the poor and needy.
