Survivor Tips

Being as Survivability is the goal, you need to be comfy with what your skill bar is in order to concentrate on the main order of business, Staying Alive. And a strong bar also aids in being able to be the smusher and not the smushee. So use tomes or whatever to get what you need, I used tomes to set up a good SoS spirit spammer build early on. That lets you hide behind something that takes a lot of the heat, and deal more damage than you can alone. For guidelines on best SoS build talk to Fire and Raven, they are our Rit specialists.

For what it's worth with the little experience that I have, I bought an elite tome before I ever started to set my Ele up with the best chance possible to give this title a go. The investment up front in this title for me was fairly heavy. In the end it really paid off and was well worth the investment. Abba, I'm glad to see your giving this thing a go. You're going to get this title no problem.

My survivor has made it to level 15. Today I had to completely bail out for the first time - in the Undercity - it was just me and my spirits left. I was real happy that I resisted the temptation to duke it out. I was so close...

Does it always feel this way?

LOL Ya get used to it after a while. Part of learning to make Survivors is learning when to cut your losses and boogie. Sounds like you are learning it well.

AAARRRGGGHHH - not well enough.

I made it to Kryta - took a quest from Kormir - the one about closing the rifts - and before I could say, "Uh-oh, I don't belong in here," I was dead.

So - I'll save the armor and the weapons and bags and start over. Level 15 - to Cantha and to Kryta. I'll do better next time.

But I did learn some things.

Oh no!!! Sorry, Abba. That hurts. That quest is deadly. It's knowing that you're always one step away from losing it that makes it so much fun. I really love this title.

Yeah - I'm going to just start him over. I really enjoyed bringing him along. Once he hit Kaineng and Lion's Arch I think I was just too cocky. No room for that with a Survivor.

lol - Ursen is always warning me about that. After so many levels of not dying you start to feel almost invincible.

My survivor got smushed right after hitting 20. Thankfully it was an instant death mechanic and doesn't count towards the title. He's still progressing, but it was the worst feeling. Now it's just slow and easy. Lesson learned, I think.

Abba you did well getting as far as you did on first try. Lesson to be learned, evaluate every mission, quest, and move in advance. Be planning your progress at least 4 missions in advance, and take a hard look at all secondary quests. And we all get a little sure of ourselves, I took a rit with 200 k to go into the Norn tourney, and made 3 successful trips before getting deadered.

Hurray! Level 20 - got my Summon Spirits - crossed 150k exp - now to figure out how to get some heroes (I did find M.O.X. standing around in Kaineng City) - and to get to Kamadan so I can get Vampirism (that is - without dying).

Congratulations, now don't get over confident enroute to the next mile stone. I generally find the most useful Hero to a Survivor is Olias as mm. Followed closely by Tahl with condition removal, every other Hero depends on situation and area. Also I find Ogden does very well on hex removal. Vanquishing Plains of Jarin has a pretty good risk/reward ratio, and can test your ability to grind really well. Best Heros for that are Olly, Ogden, Mox.

Is there another way to get to Kamadan other than taking Kormir's quest (I think it is called Sunspear in Cantha)? The last time I did that it was not pretty.

I wouldn't mind running an MM and a couple of Monks - prot and healing.

Are you taking that quest in KC or in LA? There is a slight difference in the difficulty level of the two. You might have to yodel for help on that one.

Ouch. That mission is really not fun and dangerous for the survivors. NF is so much easier in that respect. Let me know if you want help getting through that one. I can bring some heroes and help run through it quick.

Thank you Blue and Ursen for getting me through to Kamadan. Now I can go to Cantha - Tyria - Eye of the North - and Elona. The quest for heroes is on.

Alright, 1 of 3 Crystal Desert missions down. Two more and then the Doppelganger. If anyone is available I would really appreciate some help with Thirsty River. I can't leave my survivor's life in the hands of some henchmen.

Question: If you die in the Mullenix quest, Mano a Norn-o, does that count as a real death? I know that there are some games and quests where a death does not count - but I don't want to take my survivor in one on one unless I know for sure.

Mano a Norn-O is a definite deader that counts. All of the Mullenix quests are.
