Tech Help- Wireless Internet cuts out..

Whenever someone on our newly acquired PlayStation 3 turns it on, or does something "intense" ie. change games, programs, etc. my wireless internet to my laptop gets cut for a minute. We hooked up our PS3 to our wi-fi a little before Christmas and that's when it started so I'm 99% sure my problem is related to the PS3. Has anyone else had this problem or know what I can do so I don't get booted from my online games? Thanks guys

About 18 feet, through a wall if you draw a straight line. The router is about 6 feet away, through a wall as well. From router to PS3 is maybe 20 feet.

The laptop looses connection? what make/model router? How about other wireless devices other than the ps3? if everything other than the ps3 gets dumped the router is not able to keep up(common with low end wifi routers). Make sure you don't have any other devices(cordless phones or whatnot) using hte 2.4 ghz band, try moving hte router closer to the devices in question...otherwise i would suspect the router and look at a replacement.

The router is a linksys and I know its not the best one out there, but its not the worst. The only things that should be hooked up to the wifi is my iPod, laptop, and PS3, so I only know of my laptop getting cut since my iPod normally doesn't do anything online.

well fire up the ps3..fire up the lappy and the ipod. if hte lappy gets droped see if hte ipod can surf. if it can it's the lappy..if it can't it's the router. Try for a fireware update for the router or head for a netgear router./

Maybe try a different form of security. Like WPA if you are using WEP.

Change the wireless channel to the extremes...like try channel 1 and channel 10.

No nothing yet. Haven't really had time to look into things. I might just have to wait until my buddy comes down and fixes things. He set up our internet a few years back and since then things have changed, so he was gonna come up to set things straight, but I'll have him look into this as well. Thanks for the info, hopefully he can make more sense of it than I can ;). I'm not TOO concerned about it, I was just hoping there was a easy/simple fix that I could work out.. unfortunately life seems to be lacking in those easy fixes..

Thanks again guys, if something else comes up and/or when my friend comes over I'll let ya know how things pan out. :)
