Terrible experience with instances lately :(

Mostly, these involved PuGs, but on more than one occasion there's been a few guildies in the group. I'm not pointing fingers, just kind of complaining out loud.

My week started out with a UBRS group when about 3-4 people had to leave halfway through the dungeon. We were doing good too.

Then, I joined Scholomance with a PuG. Three people left, one by one. And, one by one, I filled their spots. After being in there for two and a half hours, we called the run.

That same night I joined a group for Scarlet Monestary on my Hunter. Again, three people ended up leaving the group. Two of them left before we even instanced, due to horde ganking.

Later, I think the next day, I joined a group for Stratholme that was mostly a PuG, but did have one guildie in it. A person had just left to do something, or maybe they got disconnected, I can't remember. After finding a replacement we kept going, but then my guildie left to go do a raid instance, and again we were forced to call it.

The next day, Thursday night I think, I joined a PuG for a Stratholme run, and ended up wiping several times within just the first few bosses. We had a bad class match-up, and I was healing, so it didn't look very promising. We did get to Baron, but it did take a while.

Then, I joined another Stratholme run with some guildies, and we did terrible. The guildies were fine, but a pally as a healer in Stratholme was a bad decision on my part. I can heal great, but in instances like Strath where there are a lot of mobs, and a lot of people are taking hits, paladins just won't cut it when it comes to healing. Sorry about that.

I did UBRS with mostly pick-ups, but had a couple of guildies in the raid too (great job btw guys). We were doing really, really good. But, when we got to one of the main event parts (the part where Nelfarian is yelling), a hunter accidently aggroed the top portion of the instance. I felt really bad for the hunter, because our group was giving him a hard time, and he's a friend of mine. I understood that it was just an accident, and expressed that to the raid. However, we had to call it, since if you wipe at that point, you have to do the entire instance over again.

Last night I got invited to a BRD run that apparently had lost a player most of the way through. They were doing the golem bosses. I instanced, found the group, and on the first pull of regular mobs we all wiped, and the group disbanded. It was frustrating for me, because basically as soon as I instanced to help out the group, the entire party disbanded. Not necessarily the groups fault, because I know they were tired, and it was late. But still, it was frustrating. It's like, "hey Tebran, come help us", and then as soon as I instance it's like "just kidding, we were just calling it quits anyway. You didn't have to come".

And then, this morning, I joined a PuG for Stratholme SM side. We had a great group, and we were moving along smoothly, and taking lots of damage. Soon, our mage disconnected, so we had to find another one. Not a big deal, because we filled the spot rather quickly. When the 2nd mage got there we continued to do good until we got inside the Cathedral part of SM. We wiped once, and then we kept wiping multiple times just trying to get to our bodies. Everyone entered the instance separately, and it seemed like everyone was accidently aggroing everything. Then, one of our guys had to go repair, and several of our group mates kept getting disconnected or had severe lag. Even I had to reboot, because WoW locked up. We had to call it quits (we were in the dungeon for two and a half hours, and we only just entered the Cathedral).

Now, I'm not saying this is a PuG's or anyone else's fault. I've had some very, very good experience with PuGs. I've even had bad experience with good PuGs (the kind where you have good players and a good group, but someone ends up getting disconnected, or lag effects the group, or maybe we encounter something we didn't expect). Likwise, I've had great and bad experiences with guild runs. A good example of a great run was our raid on ZG.. I had a blast during that run, and I was thrilled I made it in the raid.

I'm a little disappointed and discouraged in all this, but overall this is something that's not going to get me down in the long run. I'm very positive, so it's going to take a lot more than that before anyone sees me get overly discouraged.

With that said, I'm looking to do some more runs in the future, starting tonight, and you will still see me helping out the lower levels in the guild, as always. Specifically, I'm still wanting to do Stratholme and UBRS. I know at least one person in the guild needs to run BRD for the Ony chain, and so I'd be willing to help out with that, too.

Message me if you need anything, but please offer to help me out as well :)

Edit: Oh, I did want to mention our Dire Maul run with the guild the other day. That was a blast, and certainly, along with ZG, another highlight to my week. Thanks guys for keeping my spirits up, it was a lot of fun, and I really enjoyed the run.

I totally agree! Just in the last couple weeks, I've seen 3 guild UBRS runs wipe on Rend -- and one was even my fault! At the same time, even though we wiped multiple times, I was in a great PuG that took down Drak on our first try.

I guess when I get discouraged, I just tend to do more solo questing or farm a bit or play an alt. I'm not against instances at the moment, but I don't really have fun in PuGs like I used to. Once I get bored with solo PvE, usually go back to playing instances and loving it.

Wow, that's quite a story. It makes playing the game frusterating indeed when you have to play with a PuG of people who leave early. Or when people just want to leave after the first wipe. There was a time I went to UBRS with mostly guildies and a few pick ups, we wiped pretty early into it. But, we all came back, continued on fast and it ended up being a great run, all the way to the end.

Wish I could run more with ya Teb. At the moment, I'm trying to get in as much pvp as possible and It'd still be nice to run things like UBRS, Strat, and SCholo. But it depends on how much time I have that day.

Sometimes a few bad runs over a few weeks is ok. It forces people to refocus on their strengths and weaknesses and to stop taking things for granted. You are a good man Tebran, and I would hope that someday our schedules could coincide more often so that you could partake in more of the guild instance activities.

That would be awesome, I've missed grouping with you :) . I really mean it. I really enjoy grouping with guildies, and making friends and getting to know them is such an awesome part of my day. Even though we are older members in the guild, we never find ourselves in the same group, and I miss that. I wish I could group with all of the guildies more often.

btw - me and Strongtower just got done with an awesome run through Stratholme SM. It started out looking grim, but we started pulling and meshing together as a group, and we ended up doing really, really well. I think our 2nd strategy on Balnazzar worked incredibly groovy.

Thanks for taking me on my first STRAT run last night Tebran! Making a new friend in the guild was great -- getting through the instance alive was just a bonus ;)!

Side effect of a large guild, its very hard to group with all the guildies, hence our weekly fishing trip on Tuesdays. Regardless of your level, you can participate.

Strath SM is pretty interesting...Balnazzar is a challange, especially if your healer gets MCed. Having a way to crowd control the MCed person is key. Sheep or chain fear the MCed person and you'll be fine.

I prefer to kill them... Traitors. :D

My solution to bad experiences in instances was to stop running instances. Seriously. Ulfbrikt is all about the PvP now.

Of course, I'll likely be running Ragefire Chasm with Yiska soon. Maybe that will convince me to level Ulfbrikt past 48 and give instances another shot.

Maybe.

haha, I'm probably the 60 who's been in instances the least out of all Redeemed.

90% of my days from levels 40-60 were done in the battlegrounds; to the degree where I actually leveled most of those 20 levels by AV guards and marks of honor.
For the longest time, almost all my gear was from either the AH or the pvp rewards. I had virtually nothing from instances :p
...
actually, that's true even now...
