That is all...for now.

More to come in the morning, after I have a chance to sleep.

Yep, do they not allow you to watch the news there at good ol' C of O? ;) It was the inaugural event for the new JQH Arena at MSU.

It was pretty awesome. But I'll let Tek fill ya in once he recovers.

(I on the other hand got to get up for my early day at work :p)

Running down the road, trying to loosen my load, I've got seven women on my mind.

My fiancee, my mom, my sister, my grandma... yeah, that's seven.

It was indeed awesome.

And before anyone posts with, "How did you afford tickets to the Eagles concert? Weren't you so concerned about finances that you were delaying purchasing Left 4 Dead?" I can explain.

Ember bought the tickets a few months ago and kept the tickets a surprise until Wednesday night. They weren't the expensive tickets, but they weren't the cheapest ones, either. The seats were good, but we weren't right on the floor.

Ember knew I wouldn't buy the tickets myself as I'm sometimes too financially practical. I'm glad she did buy the tickets, as the concert was amazing and this is something I'll be telling my children and grandchildren about in the years to come.

The concert ran from about 8:15 to 11:30 p.m. with a roughly 15-minute intermission. That's roughly 3 hours of live Eagles music; that's getting one's money's worth.

The band played a few songs from their most recent album, Long Road Out of Eden (including the title track), but it was classics like Hotel California, Life's Been Good (which featured Joe Walsh running around with a helmet cam), Life in the Fast Lane (one of my favorite songs of all time), Dirty Laundry (my personal favorite Eagles song and my anthem during my days studying journalism), Heartache Tonight, Take It Easy, and Desperado that really got the crowd cheering.

I was impressed when the crowd gave a very loud one-minute ovation when the band leader introduced Don Henley. Henley is one of my favorite lyricists and he managed to capsulize American journalism in the last verse of Dirty Laundry:
We can do the innuendo
We can dance and sing
When its said and done we haven't told you a thing
We all know that crap is king
Give us dirty laundry!
What made the performance even more awesome was the video clips of CNN, Fox, Entertainment Tonight, and other assorted broadcasts playing on the scrim in the background.

Most of my favorite bands and solo artists are either dead, disbanded, or no longer performing. It was the opportunity of a lifetime to see a legendary band like The Eagles perform within driving distance (20-25 minutes) from home. The tickets were expensive, but for a good reason: The Eagles are masters of their craft.

They do, if you can reserve the lounge TV for that period of time... Which is more hassle than its worth unless I KNOW something good is going to be on.

So no, we actually very rarely know the local news. :o
National and international news on the other hand...

Sounds like it was a blast though, glad y'all got to go!
