The OC ... or The MC?

(out my office window ... one fire is off to the right (Malibu), other is pretty much straight ahead (Santiago Canyon)).

Looks familiar. I can't see the smoke outside because of the direction my office faces, but saw tons of smoke from the OC fire on my way to work. I'm surprised that there's nothing closer - I work in Anaheim Hills, and we usually have something going on out this direction.

We had a few trees go down in our neighborhood yesterday from the winds and could smell smoke from the various fires. Not a lot of fun. We have a couple of neighbors who are firefighters, and I know they're smack in the middle of this.

Prayers go out for those involved and affected.

Wow...but other than the fires, you have a nice view, where I work they don't even have windows...lol...

When Georgia had wildfires a few months ago, if the wind blew the right direction, we would have smoke in Atlanta. Needless to say it isn't as bad as you guys though. =\

Hey, wait a second. I just really looked at that second photo, and I know that interchange like the back of my hand. As a matter of fact, I work at the other end of that freeway. Used to take that route home every evening, before they finished construction on the 22. And I live about 5 miles from there.

Small world. (But I wouldn't want to paint it...)

Yeah #1 is pointed pretty much directly at the Portola/Sand Canyon intersection where there fire line is. #2 is right at the 405/55 interchange, with the buildings in the distance being Newport Center ... with John Wayne airport kinda in the foreground on the left.

They finished construction on the 22? No way!

They did, believe it or not. It was great when it first opened, because hardly anyone seemed to know it, and it was wide open. People have gradually been figuring it out, but it's still quicker than 55 to MacArthur and taking surface streets the whole way home (I won't touch the 405 North for anything in the afternoon). I still take 405 South to 55 North in the mornings, though.

Edit: Ooh, it's starting to get orange outside. I'll have to go see what's floating our way.

Just a pillar of smoke from the various fires covering the sun. It's cleared up now, but will likely reoccur periodically.

There are always the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets around here when there are forest fires....pretty orange and pink skies.....too bad the cost is so high.

Darn you Socal... You steal our water, then blow all your smog up in our direction!!! (But hey, thanks for In N Out...)

Here are some pictures from a different fire in Southern California. This one is in Running Springs/Lake Arrowhead area. I took these pictures from my street.

I just found out last night that a good friend from a Bible study that I used to be in and his family have evacuated from their home in the Lake Arrowhead area. They know the fires have been close to their house, but they don't know how close. They went through this 2 or 3 years ago, but were fine then. Hopefully God will protect their 'stuff' again.

Please pray for the Erbers.

Now it's More Like Blasted Lands...

This is the same view at Pic #2 at the start of this thread, but taken at 1:45 p.m. today -- early afternoon, with the sun overhead when it's normally as sunny and bright as can be. All the smoke has just diffused everywhere so it looks like it's late evening (or raining .. we wish) and visibility is just not there. Reddish glow everywhere. And smokey everywhere, yechh. But we're in SO much better shape here than San Diego. Anyone in contact with Camm? Big fire broke out at Ft. Pendleton overnight...
