Ticked off at Anet

I am so mad right now I cannot play the dumb game.
If you haven't seen the crap storm on the forums yet, don't go read them it will infuriate you.
Yesterday after Act 2 launched there was a 4 hour window where you could keep looting Labyrinth Chests and get exotics. Tens of thousands of people raked it in. Many reporting over 100 exotics. I personally know people that got over 20 exotics. These are the craft-able Halloween ones that cost 180g to make. The price plummeted from 200g+ to 20g on the TP after this happened. Then 4 hours later Anet nerfed it so you can only loot a chest 1 per 24 hrs and nerfed the loot table so exotics don't even drop.

Long story short, there are thousands of players that are sitting on 1000s of gold now. The price has already gone back up and my friends have sold some of there stash at 50g a pop already, imagine after the event is over and even next year as people want 1st edition skins... This is so unfortunate. I hope that Anet does something to remedy this like make them all soul-bound immediately. The fact that because I didn't get to play during a 4 hour window I am stuck with my measly 2 gold while 1000s if not 10,000s of people are now sitting with 500 or more gold?!? ahhhhhh makes me not want to do anything Halloween oriented nor even log in....

I am ticked off because 1) they let it go on for 4 hours! 2) They have done nothing to stop this from hitting the economy yet. 3) They nerfed the living daylights out of the chests 4) They let such a massive exploit into the game 5) grrrrrrr

When it comes to MMOs, failure by the game company isn't just an option it's a feature built in from the beginning.

I can sympathize as I've never been able to make good cash either. However, I suppose we'll just need to watch and see how this affects the economy. 4 hours of uber loots across all servers could drastically affect the AH since it is shared across all servers.

Think of this one simple example of how it ruined a big deal for a single player.

You drop some cash on keys, say $20. You get zero cool skins or recipes. You are ticked but it was your choice to gamble so be it. Then ANET introduces the Mad King chests to make up for the situation with the minuscule drop rates. After opening 9 of these chests you get a single drop, a gift of spiders recipe. This will allow you to craft a 180g item that is a mini-legendary. They sell for about 200g so you can make some good cash....ONE DAY. You have 3 gold to your name, so getting the 180g worth of mats will take months and months. But you are excited that some day this year, down the road, you will finally get to craft this item and make some money. Cool stuff, something to look forward to.

THEN THIS EXPLOIT happens for 4 hours and that item now sells for 20g, up to 50g since it was patched. Unless something is done to erase the items, with 10,000s of them in the economy you will never make money off crafting this in fact NO ONE will ever craft this again. Sad and frustrating.

When GW1 came out, there was a similar exploit with ectoplasm. Iirc, there was also a glitch where the price at the trader was 300g each. At the time, I think ecto was selling at around 16k. Thousands of people bought ecto at 300g. Anet fixed the glitch but did not perform a roll back meaning people made off with stacks of ectoplasm. It took years for the economy to balance out. I do feel your pain ewok. Anet should perform a roll back, imo. I no longer play GW2 for other reasons.

Wish I had even a chance to get one chest. Between wife not feeling well & seeing a few docs, been pretty busy, haven't had much time to play.

Also plz pray for Biblica/Sandra; she has another CT set for Wednesday, October 31, 2012 ...

RABID EWOK IN THE FORUMS! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!

Sorry could not resist :p .

OK I took a tranquilizer, and I am better. If the game itself wasn't so much fun to play, I would probably stay madder longer and even rage quit. The fact of the matter is it's really fun to play. Unfortunately the botting and the exploits are through the roof on this MMO and ANET does not seem to be in control of it.

I got kinda bored at around level 67 and have been playing fallout new vegas. I'm not overly excited by the halloween event, tried playing it once today but besided joining a hunting zerg in a mad king's rhealm, didn't do much in there. I might just go finish the last two dlc quests for FNV I've never played before. XD

(No Way!!! I"m in the SoLA Guild too Sydney!!!! )

Give it time I'm sure a game as big as GW2 will take the time to do something about it even if it will be an ongoing battle.

I am sure as no matter how many botters there are in a game it could never be worse than when I played Silkroad Online. So many it was hard to find a spot to farm. They would roam in packs KSing you at times. I actually became very rich buying and reselling the items botters sold... ok so maybe the side effects weren't all bad :p .

Hey bro! Glad you made it over to ToJ/CGA This is a good place.

All of the elite skins and crafting recipes are so out of my league (still haven't broken level 40) that I haven't really gotten caught up in a lot of the trouble from this event. That, and I'll never pay real money for a mere chance at something, so I didn't care too much about the chest drop rarity.

I was pretty disappointed when I found the Act II treasure hunt leading into zones I couldn't cross, even with help from other players. The treasure hunt was the one part of this event I was actually participating in, only to find out it was gated content. I did try it with an escort, but was still getting mob aggro and getting killed. Didn't want to make my escort rez me every fifteen yards across a zone.

I think if costume brawl was something interesting to me, perhaps I would have found something to like in the Halloween event. As it is, it seems like that is the only silly fun thing, and everything else is kind of disappointing and/or stressful.

Enok, I'm with you... Once it got to the Harathi Hinterlands, I was out of the game... But that's okay, that's the nature of the content. It was the same in GW1, we just didn't mind because we could go everywhere. When it comes out next year, we'll be zipping all over like pros.

You mentioned expensive exotics drop - are you referring to the craftable skins? I thought just the mad king gear and random dropped. I saw a small dip in things like greatsaws, but AFAIK nothing else dipped. Were people using the exotics to forge precursors or something?

Botting is one of the real problems, that I agree with. In many places I run into these "bot packs" and have a hard time doing what I want to. One of my toons represents another Guild based on another server, and one night it got so bad for a few in that guild while in Lornar's Pass play just turned into a big bot hunting fest. I would say that shows the level of the problem. So report, report, report, sooner or later Anet will get a handle on the problem

All the craft-able items dropped, not the skins, the actual exotics. The Crossing, The Arachnophobia, etc. These are items that cost over 200g. Ppl had upwards of 50 of them...

Yeah. Mostly I've just been playing around the Halloween event. Got some cash for all the candy corn I picked up, but that's about all the impact it's had on me. Other than the terrible loading screen time and lag when I need to cross through LA. ;)

Halloween isn't really a holiday I celebrate anyway, and I love the rest of the game. I hope they get some wrinkles ironed out for future events, though.
