Ok, it's been a while, but we're now a fleshed-out team!

The official roster:

[toj.cc]James
[toj.cc]Killerah
[toj.cc]kraniac
[toj.cc]Shagz
[toj.cc]WJFreak
[toj.cc]Tek7 (reserve)

We're still recruiting, but at this point we can start practices and stuff. Practices will be held, nominally, Fridays at 7 PM Eastern Standard Time. However, from the looks of my schedule, I will have to cancel these about half the time. So, I will be posting the dates we will be having practice on these forums, and adding those posts to the calendar, so please check here often. Important: The 24th's practice will be held at 4 PM EST, not 7 PM EST.

For my intrepid teammates, I have some things you need to do so we can begin ladder play. First, register with the Team Warfare League at teamwarfare.com. Be sure to add the last 8 digits of your GUID (found in the settings menu) to your TWL profile. Once Tek7 gets back, he can form our team on the ladder and designate us as members, and designate Shagz and me as captains. This is so that he, not Shagz and I, will appear as the team owner, which is important.

Concerning making practices, don't freak out if you have something come up. I only need four members to make any single practice, and we have 5.5 members. If you can never make any practices at the designated time, PM me and I'll try to reschedule for a time that works with everybody.

When I post a practice announcement, reply to the post if you can make it so I know how many people are going to show up.

Also, regarding matches: matches on TWL are scheduled irregularly. Usually, the challenging team picks three days and a three hour time range that are good for them, and the defending team picks one of those three days and sets the time from the time range.

One more thing: I'm still just contemplating and researching to see how possible it might be, but I have been shopping around for a deal on renting a private 2v2 TDM server. |HM|Viper could run me one for $10 a month, which is actually less than I spend on my nearly-inactive SWG account right now. I'm planning on canceling it once Guild Wars comes out, so I'll have the required monies to get us a practice server. If we go through with renting it, he could set it up in Dallas, Chicago, or New York. Dallas gives me 28 ping, Chicago gives me 58 ping, and New York gives me 112 ping. If I decide to rent it, I'll be deciding what location works best in a democratic process, but I will be automatically ruling out New York, since I get 112 ping on the existing ToJ server and that's what renting is supposed to prevent.

Thanks for reading this long thing. I am optimistic about this team. I think that we are going to have a lot of fun with this and gain some great experience.

I might be able to make the practice on the 24th, but I don't know. My church is having a Christmas Eve service and I'm not sure how long it will run or if we will go to dinner afterward or something.

We sometimes all meet up at Olive Garden (I think our church single-handidly keeps that restaurant out of debt).

Plank, we can't use our ToJ public server because some of the Ladder Maps - GrendelKeep, Asbestos, Compressed - crash the server, and I haven't had/made the time to find out why this keeps happening on certain maps. The error message always complains abount a corrupt map file and suggests reinstalling UT.

I probably can't make it

I'm on the side of america that my computer is not on. I'm posting from my laptop which can barely run the game and I don't have it installed with the cd key from my copy, it's just got a key from a keygen, and to make matters worse I have been having some serious troubles connecting to the internet here. All that with the fact that I'm gonna be going to a christmas service at my old church here and then our family will be doing a little gift giving thing afterward. But since you said it's at 4 I might try to dig up my cd key, throw aside my wireless card and just plug into the router here directly. I might actually be able to make it then. I guess we'll see, it's up in the air. I'll make as much of an effort to make it as possible.

Don't worry too much about making the 24th's practice. I'll just take whoever shows up. I knew that this one would be hard to set up, being Christmas Eve. So if you can't do it, don't worry about it. Enjoy God, your family, and your vacation.

And if you can make it, meet in the ToJ server. We might be moving to another server though. My old clan leader Masher runs Archon's Playground #2 {dKc} that is set up for competitive 2v2. It's rarely ever populated, so we may swing in there, if we have the people. Otherwise, I'll just go over some level tricks and work on item timing and stuff. And if nobody shows up by 4:15 EST, I'll either switch to a public server and play, or get off and enjoy my vacation.

Hm...*muses*

I would think that, given my time away from my PC AND the need to delegate more tasks to staff members, it would be best for you or Shagz to form the team. I have no problem with either, or both, of you being named team owner.

Just as long as you let me on the team as a reserve player when I get back. ^^;; But yes, you have the Official Tek Stamp of Approval™ to form the teamwarfare.com team under the Tribe of Judah name.

Team is created. I've tried to send everyone the join password for TWL, but if I missed you, PM me and I'll give it.

Kranic, I'm in, but I don't know where to put my GUID #. There's no spot for it in my profile. Am I missing something?

Once you're logged in to the site, use the far left drop down menu that should have your name on it. Mouse down to "Account Maintenance," and click on Profile. It will show you your member data. The second box down from the top should say Anti-Smurf Game Identifiers. There's an "add an id" link. Click it, and add the last 8 digits of your GUID in the box.

Nobody showed up. That means you're all enjoying your vacation, which is even better.

Looks like we'll start in the new year. Specific time and date is TBA.

Merry Christmas!

I joined, sorry I couldn't come to the match, there were vacation enjoyment complications

(and I found myself in a house that had dial-up) . Who showed up anyway?

Nobody showed up

. I went and played on a public server for a couple of hours. Of course, that was what I would have been doing anyway. I saw on TWL that you joined. I'm allowed to make a challenge now. I was thinking about challenging {dKc}, en|, or {DS}. There are pros and cons of each.

{dKc}
I know pretty much all of these guys. They're the people I play with when I don't see any ToJ people on, which is most of the time. Their 2v2 team is made up of Shadow, TheLeftSock, and BattleDragon. Shadow and Sock are both about equal with me in skill. Sock is better than Shadow or me with the shieldgun, though, which is a useful skill with no weaponstay. BattleDragon is the best member in all of dKc, and is one of the best players online. If we play Shadow and Sock, we might stand a chance. If we play BD and someone, we are pretty much going to get owned hands down.

Killerah and I played these people for our first scrimmage. They seemed to not be as good as dKc, but they still beat us (it was our first game, though). We played against Hammy and Bosko, which are both on the 2v2 team. What bothers me is that they are ranked higher than dKc on the ladder, so they might be better.

{DS}
Their clan used to be named Downward Spiral, but someone else started a clan named »DS« DigitalSpeed (a clan I have also played with a lot. They're good players and I learned a lot from them, but I didn't particularly enjoy it, as they could be rather crude). So now Downward Spiral has changed their name to Methods of Mayhem. I know one of their 4v4 players, {DS}JubEI, but they only have 2 2v2 members. They are unproven on the ladder, like us.

We can pretty much challenge people at our leisure, since we're the lowest rung right now. If you think we should challenge someone else on the ladder that I haven't talked about, say so. I'm just trying to stick with people that I'm familiar with-- maybe you have a better idea.

So, team, who should we play first? Also, name a time out of these choices: 8:30, 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, 10:30 (all times EST). Then name three days out of the week you can play at that time.

Just FYI, I'm still back in the 'burg and won't be back at my 'puter 'til tomorrow night. I'll get hooked into TW then.

EDIT: I'm in. Note, however, that "Shagz" was already in use by somebody else, so I'm "DJShagz".

Hello all!
I finally managed to get registered with CGA. I have no idea what the problem is but I can finaly post.
I have a friend who is a good player who wants to join up, but h, like me, has many children and finds that after their bedtime is the best time for proactice. Is there any chance of that?

Jamey

Well howdy WJfreak , I see you've finally made it to the posts. If your up and about late night then I might get to see ya on the late night games I play. Your friend needs to get signed up and maybe Kraniac will try to set a later time for practice if he can.

I guess we could vary the times irregularly. We'll see. The next practice will probably be the 7th, but I haven't finalized it yet, so don't quote me.
