2 Corinthians 5:17 (New International Version, ©2010)

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

As we face a new year let us not forget the greatest renewal of all, being reborn in Christ. We get all excited about facing a new year, but we should look at being reborn in Christ with even greater joy and excitement. Too often those of us who have been Christians for a while forget that excitement. You don't have to be in church to shout a few hallelujahs or raise your hands in praise, take some daily devotional time to let yourself be all excited anew by the fact that, "The old has gone, the new is here!"

Taking time daily to honor and praise God IS true worship. Thanks for the reminder.

I spent far too much time last year in complacency. That's not a good thing.

I am supposed to be like a foreigner to this broken world, and when I find myself being complacent and fitting right in, thinking that Jesus can take His time coming back because I am comfortable where I am . . . that just doesn't sit right in my heart. I should never be so cozy in my flesh that my heart stops yearning for him, for the final eternal rebirth.

If that makes any sense. . .
