Should we bring back the UT2004 server? Vote above. We've been receiving faithful monthly contributions, of which i'm very grateful for. If they continue there should be enough to support 2 servers.

If we brought in another $1000 in donations and consistently had members donating about $70 a month, we could easily run multiple game servers (Team Fortress 2, UT3, UT2004, CS 1.6, etc.) on our own server hardware.

Just a thought. :D

Amen, lets get the donations toward the ToJ master server going :D.

I have donated twice for the toj Server which would be a Great asset, I also Donate to the UT server, I Pray that toj is able to build or purchase its own server soon, but unless more donations come in then it will remain an Idea, until that time I will continue to donate :p

I'd play in it if there was a 2k4 server around. Most UT servers there at the end were full of hackers, so I kinda just quit playing. :(

If we set up a new UT2004 server it will have UTAN and AntiTCC on it to keep cheating in check.

Good idea Captain, but nothing can replace active server admins. We had AntiTCC on our server there at the end and observed people triggerbotting and wallhacking a lot, enough that we banned a whole clan for it because 3 of their members got banned from our servers in about 1 week for botting.

On our old server we had a handy server admin tool for just such people. You could type in commands to make guys freeze till their killed, drop all their weapons and not be able to pick them back up till killed, you could slap them and all sorts of stuff, me and ColdSteel used to login and mess with each other :p.

We have 4 admins for the UT3 server now. We don't tolerate cheaters, however we don't ban people till we are sure that their cheating tho. If you ever suspect a cheater go to spectate and get some screenshots of suspicious behavior if u can.

I enjoy playing 2K4 as well as UT 3, just that UT 3 looks better, I know back when the toj 2K4 server was up and running it was very competitive while simotaniously players from toj would Teach others to play better. Cheaters will always exist, if they would only put forth the same effort in learning the game they use for Hacking, then they would be better off, however the toj server then as now is closely monitored for abuse of any type when a Admin is present, due to different work schedules a full time person monitoring is almost impossible, but I think we do a fair job, come and join us in the CO30 server Bakey, Captain tea and I alternate our games during his Lunch break, usually UT2K4, UT 3 or XMP, any and all are Welcome, kickoff is normally around 11:45 am :)

Well I finally figured out my problem with my UT 2004. I know have it up and running. The invalid cd key was finally fixed by giving administrative rights to the UT exe file and it just works. yea
see you all online soon in a game.

CS walks down memory lane -- to puke command ya and turn you into a llama.

Well were 2-2 in the vote. It will cost $15/month for a 10 slot server. We are currently spending $18/month for a 12 slot UT3 server. As always I will cover when donations fall short. What do you think? Should we do it? Should we wait for people to step up and donate to the ToJ server fund?

Seems like I remember saying to try this, Hmmmm, lol. Vista is different, even if you are the Administator and its the only account you still have to verify the program exe's have the rights, thats why I turned UAC off.
I had not voted until now, but if we want a UT2K4 server in addition to the UT 3
Server then Count on me to help with Donations:p

Should we wait for people to step up and donate to the ToJ server fund?

If you have the funds then go for it, but i wouldnt hope on any /new/ donations.. The other option would be to not get the server, put the money in the pot for the dedicated game server.

That's always the conundrum here at ToJ. Do you get the server and enjoy the server now and perhaps pick up a player or 2 because of it, or wait and hope others donate so we can have a sweet setup and more servers for the money? No matter what you do it has consequences :(.

Our votes have gone 4-2 in favor of the server. If there's no objections from the higher ups we can get a 10 slot server going on a month to month basis and see how it goes.

This is always a difficult topic for me. On one hand, I know the value of having our own servers right away. On the other hand, we've raised $1000 USD toward purchasing dedicated server hardware, but seemed to have stalled in our fundraising efforts.

How much would this cost per month? Does the company you've selected charge a setup fee? Could we set up the first month as a "probationary" period where, if the server doesn't see enough activity, we take it offline?

Again, there's no obvious right or wrong answer to this question. Right now, I'm leaning towards approving the server rental, but I'd like more input first.

Sent you a PM with the specifics
