Vasectomy

Wh1te Out

New Member
Has anyone here had a vasectomy? I'm scheduling one for sometime in the next month or so and I'm extremely nervous. It's what I want to do, but I've never even broken a bone, much less had surgery. Sure, it's a "simple" outpatient procedure. But how "simple" can it be when we're talking about that body part!? Please help reassure me.

I know several people who have had them. They all turned out fine and only complained of minor soreness for a day or two.

Don't worry! It's fine!

Besides, I could tell you a story about the time I was supposed to be catheterized as part of a kidney scan, and they botched it up something horrible.* Nothing can be as painful as that! :D

*but I won't, because you don't want to know and because there's ladies present. :)

I had it done last year. It wasn't too bad at all. Believe me, I was pretty worried too. As long as you take it easy for a few days afterwards, you'll be good to go. If you want more detailed information, it'd probably be best that we hop on teamspeak. ;)

I've heard some pretty bad stories about swelling and stuff like that.
(I must admit, I took a perverse sort of joy in making the above statement)

On a lighter note, I'll pray for you.

My wife is the oldest of six, and after number six popped out, he decided to go through with the proceedure.

According to her, he's a big baby when it comes to medical stuff, but after it was done, his comment was, "if I had known it was this easy, I would have done it a long time ago."

Of course I'm sure the youngest of her siblings are happy that he waited to have it done.

As an alternative though (not to try to sway you)...
My wife had always hinted that I might have to go through with this someday. Of course we haven't had kids yet, so it isn't an issue anytime soon anyway.

She recently watched a special on TV where a family had 14 kids. They originally had thought about some form of prevention. Then they came to a conclusion that they trust God in every area of their lives except for family planning. Now they trust in him and are happily blessed with a large family.

I'm not sure how many kids we'll end up having. We'd always said 2-4. Now it's just up to God.

Of course this could take me to a prayer request which should probably go elsewhere, but we're really hoping and praying for number one right now. (especially after last summer's prayer request)

OK I am not a guy nor do I know anyone with this subject but I do understand your anxiousness. I had to have an outpatient surgery to check into some things. I was a wreck with all the things going on around me. Finally they all went away for a brief moment and I talked with God for that bit of time and then I was fine. This was before they gave me medicine to calm me down. I hope this helps.

Blessings,"Angel"

Ugh... I had some kind of kidney scan. Won't say how. But I was awake. And if they ever gave me pain killer, it was expired. Had to have one every 3 years!!! But now I don't, because I don't have a kidney problem anymore (I mean aside from the only one kidney part)
