I just wanted to let the community know that I just finished purchasing a vBulletin 4.x license for the Christian Gamers Alliance using the CGA Paypal account.

vB 4.0 has not yet been released, but when it is, Hescominsoon, your friendly neighborhood Forums Administrator, will be hard at work on upgrading our forums and future web site.

Yes, you read correctly: Future web site. The package we purchased for $130 USD includes the next version of the forums as well as an integrated CMS (content management system) and blogs module that will serve as the CGA web site.

On a side note, the decision to purchase the upgrade was made with staff involvement, with arguments for and against the upgrade carefully considered. In the end, we, as a team, decided to purchase the upgrade.

I'll leave it to Hescominsoon to fill you all in on the technical details, but, in the interest of financial accountability and transparency, I wanted to share this news with the entire community.

EDIT: Here's more info on vB 4. We have the a license for the Publishing Suite package.

right now the only technical details i can give are located at vbulletin.com which are sparse. Once more gets disclosed we'll keep everyone posted.
 
LOL again - AFK - away from keyboard - right? That's a funny metaphor for the way too many people are at church.
 
right vb4 is going to give us a fully integrated cms front end and forums backend much like we had with the old phpnuke site minus the litany of security issues nuke has. However with this decision(and in light of the resent PM debacle) we are only using this vb4 as a stepping stone to migration away to a free solution.
