Ways to make our Guild better March 2006

Ok here it comes again. I want peoples input to make our guild better I especially want input from newer guild members (Older members input is welcome as well). Please if you see something that we can do better or are not doing.

List of things that resulted from this thread last time:

BIBLE SUDY
GvG nights
More activity in Teamspeak Server
More activity on the forums

On going from previous threads:

Build Your wealth Night (Sundays) I think this needs some revamping
Low level night (dead)

Now I think we need to get a littlemore oranized in ways. I think a Guild welcoming committee would be very nice. We also have quite a few newer members in lower levels that need some assistance. Also a little more activity from newer members on the forum and teamspeak part of welcoming them into the guild and making them feel at home. We have a very awesome community here and I want more people to feel welcome. So Let the input begin!!

Here is my Idea: maybe have some GvG lessons to those you have never played GvG before or want to understand it better, I believe we can practice against each other.

I think the idea of helping newer characters in the game would be great. Like running them places, doing missions, Pwr lvling, etc..
Also i have the greatest time playing GvG weither we win or lose it is so much fun, i think we need more of GvG. But thats probably because im addicted to it.
It might be a good idea on teaching some of them the ropes on how to gain money farming and making solo builds.

i did do powerleveling when i had a computer and thanks for the remind cuz i'll start doing that once starfire has her own account >.>

I agree with what you say about GvG, and with Dredd's suggestion that we work harder to get guildies involved with it. Anybody with an open slot can create a PvP only character and join in, after all.

Here's a suggestion that comes to mind - on one or both of the current GvG nights (Monday or Friday), before GvG starts we could all focus on helping out lower level characters. We're already doing this a lot independently, but we could advertise it and make it a priority for pre-GvG on those nights. Then we could invite the people we're helping to join us in GvG with their higher level or PVP only characters, and give them whatever help to get them started if they're interested.

My suggestion is to appoint someone to greet new ToJ members that have expressed an interest in the Guild Wars chapter. When you view the ToJ home page, you'll see new members announced. If you click on their name, it will bring up more info about them including which games they are interested in. If you see Guild Wars, send them a welcome email with information about the GW chapter.

Perhaps we could give "Build Your Wealth" night a more structured look. Set a time and set a farming event ahead of time maybe.

There's queen farming, green farming, IDS farming, Ettin farming........and on and on. I never know which we will do on Sunday night.

GvG is easy for me. I leave the strategic thinking to others. I just show up and say "what do you want me to do?". Farming is another matter. Halonic is an uber farmer (eat your heart out Mad Dogg Matt.......didn't know I could throw out words like uber did you). I'd like to see us go about it a little differently.

Halonic's suggestion has a lot of merit.

What we could do, is this
First sunday of the month: green farming (or anything done in Southern Shiverpeaks)
second: Ettin Farming (or anything in Kryta)
Third: Char farming (or anything found in Ascalon)
Fourth: Gryffon Farming (Crytsal Desert)

Then, if there is a fifth sunday, that can be trips through the ToA.

I think thats a great idea it would make things more structured and easier to remember.

Go GvG lessons!

It's great that we encourage new people to try GvG: a lot of guilds won't, because it may hurt their ranking. ("Oh, boohoo, someone is ranked higher." DUH! There will always be someone ranked higher, unless you're first. Then you live in fear of losing that spot.) But if the guild loses in your first few games, you do feel guilty. GvG lessons may alleviate some of that, so that newcomers wouldn't feel it was their fault.

The Team Arenas, while they only hold teams of 4, could be a good practice place that would give people a taste of PvP without impacting the ranking at all.

Was just in Heroes Ascent, never done that before, but it you can have groups of up to 8 people, so that looks like an even better candidate for GvG practice. Not all that familiar with it or how it works though.

Regarding Heroes' Ascent

I would LOVE to lead groups of guildies through that particular PvP venue, since it's my favorite. The strategies can be the same as GvG, so MF builds work, but I've only ever made it to the Hall of Heroes with more balanced groups. Coordination over teamspeak is a huge advantage there, and winning lots of battles gives you nice little rank emotes.

Anybody else interested?

I like going to Heroes Ascent but I think it is harder than GvG in ways. But I am trying to get fame :0).

or we can just vote every week in the forums for wich we want to do, this would also encourage more people to participate in the forums

well, for GvG, we can get together and practice in team areanas to try our team combinations and builds.

i love build your wealth night, i have made alot over them, i think as long as we are all willing to get together, i think we should be able to do pretty much whatever, and schedules are hard because of different time zones... but it would still be cool.

i think it would be cool if we had some kind of a capping night -- and i dont mean what we do to other guilds-- but for getting skills and such for each other.

I would think it would be hard to help lower level players by establishing a day - its more of a day by day. if you are lvl 6, you dont want to wait to next week for help. plus you cant always get on just then. i think we generelly do a great job with this though -- i know ive got alot of help.

And, sadly, i dont know how Bible Study attendence has been doing... but its because ive worked every Thursday since the first one.. but i dont this week! oh yes!
