Pirate!
Romans 8:17 (NIV) Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

Paul was at the end of a very long and complicated explanation of Christianity. Frankly, it reminded me of some of the writings of C.S Lewis. But I digress. Paul said that through the Spirit, those that love Him call God "Father." If He is our Father, then we are His children. And as the verse above points out, we as share in the glory given to His Son, Jesus Christ.

So as you face hardships, remember to share them with Christ. Because Jesus has already shared His glory with us!

Funny how we want to claim being "children" and "heirs" and "glory" - but shy away from "share in his sufferings." Thanks for the verse.
