What do you use on your YouTubes?

I'm really interesting in making my own videos.

Ever since, Atown showed me his video, it got me wondering, how could I make a video like that.

I'm not trying to copy you, Atown. ;)

Looking at their gameplays of the people/gamers, I'd like to show off my skills too. :D

So, yes, what would I need or could work to make videos for YouTube?

Suggestions for video editing, recording device, etc.

The software and hardware; Movie Maker? a Sony Camcorder? I don't know!

Can a Camcorder record direct feeds from the TV?

I'd like to do that since that is most of the games I play, now-a-days.

I use Windows Movie Maker.

Not saying it's a good program or fun to work with in any aspect, but I use it because I've got nothing else at the present time >_>

The video's Atown made are really low key. We just had a very VERY bad camcorder and a lot of fun time. haha. I wouldn't try and copy us... Just saying, I'm a bad actor in those, and Atown wasn't he greatest director, but, hey... we had fun.
A HUGE key is that if you make a definite show, do many MANY takes, and try different angels.
So, you wanna take a lot of takes and find the best of each and add them together. but... it depends on the director.

Everyone has their own preference of things to use. When i edit video, I don't want to buy a video editing program so i use the old school Window's Movie Maker. It doesn't have special graphics, yet if your not trying to do anything fancy... you should be fine. It is just filled with loading all your videos, chopping them up, and timing where you put certain shots and sounds.

You can record a TV by just angling your camera in front of your TV (which is the old school way). Though, depending on the type of TV you can have bad results. Some older TVs and monitors when recorded, show the refresh rate of the screen. If you have a new HD TV or monitor (or just a flat screen), i think you should be fine. The new HD TVs don't have a refresh rate in which normal cameras can pick up on.

*side note* there are some types of cameras that you can plug into your TV to record anything goes on. I believe if you have a cable box with DVR or TEVO, if you can hook your computer up to those, you can capture the video. My DVR at home is hooked up to my Wii, so that way i can capture videos of me owning others (sadly that is not happening as of late)

hope this helps.

Since recording for Video Games is harder than I thought, what about PC games?

I mean, on the YouTubes, I see them use HyperCam 2 and some, CamStudio.

I've tried CamStudio and it kinda works.

Its captured my Doom II gameplay but I have no audio and the video changes colors, the bad ones.

Which is best suited for PC games, or uses on a Computer for PC games?

I use Windows, as I am no Linux advanced persons. I also like it to be both video and audio.

So far:

Fraps doesn't work good, awfully slow frame rates and 5 seconds audio delay.
CamStudio kinda works, no audio and video changes colors.

I've used Nero Vision, its how I got my avatars.
Unfortunately, its not on this PC.

Gonna try the last 3, the 2 Windows and HyperCam.

Nice promotional video.

haha thanks. i used adobe premier pro cs3 to make that but i prefer final cut express and avid alot more. there are some good screen capture softwares out there, which is how i did the google effects, but its really trial and error. save often if you use WMM though

CamStudio does a good job with a 640x480 size, laggy though.

Testing out every Compressor I can; Quality, Set Key Frames, Capture Frames, Playback rate...

I wonder if all of this would be better on a 2.4Ghz....

If HyperCam becomes the same as CamStudio, then its the PCs problem, entirely..............=-098hiop,[.j vcfcryx8yj90,:(

Lame!

1400 Missing Frames!?

It could not even record the Pinball game on the Games Folder from the Start Menu!

The sound was breaking the music, breaking my speakers.

*Psshh Krrrr Psshh Krrr*

Whatever, I'll have to wait for my PC, AW UGH!

I USED to get paid to make videos, I worked for Indiana Films, and I use the best program out there Adobe Premiere!!! However it goes for at least $700 usually more...I got it for free from Indiana Films... I always use a personal server to host my videos because Youtube and other video hosting sites decrease the quality by at least 100 times, most of my videos run at high resolutions, many of them HD...so Youtube is the last place I would put my videos... Windows Movie Maker is an alright editing program, and it is ridiculously limited, however, if you don't want to put any money into it, it makes for well mediocre videos...
