why I believe
In 1976 my sister was 6, I was 12. She thought getting the mail was a good idea, but was struck by a drunk driver (his car). She received a hole in her forhead the size of a quarter (25¢ piece), and her abdomen was super-scuffed by her subsequent action of 'surfing' facedown on the blacktop road. My grandfather's whole church prayed, and my sister was released from the hospital the day after because all her scabs just fell off. I remember Dad saying the doctor was Jewish, and was totally awestruck.
Early one morning in 2003 my Mother had a stroke. Her left side was paralyzed, and she could not speak coherently. She could mumble things like, "Noodles kitten the free shower doll." This condition persisted for two days. This time my Dad was a real Christian, and both his church and my grandfather's church prayed for my Mom. After the third day she woke up, went into the hospital room toilet by herself, and demanded some breakfast. Keep in mind she *was* half paralyzed. She has been her normal old self ever since, and has no memory of ever being in bad shape. I have always marveled about that happening after three days of her condition.
I am 42, I thought I was a Christian all my life, until about 15 years ago some men from the local Baptist church came and shared 'the Roman's Road' and 'the Sinner's Prayer' with me. But I remember my Mother reading me Bible stories at a young age, I had a good foundation, just no house built on it. Recently I moved my spiritual house onto the Rock, and I am moving Forward now. Glory to God. So, while I 'always' believed in God, I just shared two true stories of why I could never truly deny Him.
Here's another reason: have you ever seen a blob of jello that could communicate its surroundings to you in 3D & technocolor? That's what most people's eyes do every day! Only a real God could ever hope to create an eye. (Don't suggest a camera either, it's a poor substitute/model, and it isn't alive.)
