And because most (though, I admit, not all) animated avatars are obnoxious. There's already enough on the screen without Spider-Man doing the Napoleon Dynamite dance.

The few people who do have animated avatars had them before we put the new rules into place.

Ya, animated avatars are annoying, nothing worst then trying to read a post and there is some dumb movie looping every 2 seconds to the side.
