Would these be good buys?

Xymnas uses one of those gaming keyboards... But most the time he doesn't actually use it. I would say they're a waste of money. You can easily hotkey all your buttons to the 1-5 keys and you can just add shift, alt or ctrl to any of them for a different hotkey.

As for the mouse... I use the classic Razer DeathAdder and I LOVE it. It doesn't have that many buttons on it though.

it honestly depends on what you want to do gaming wise. If you want to do serious pvp stuff with arenas and such you might wnt to consider it. Raiding on the other hand its not necessary you can have all your buttons on the normal bars

and if your going to spend money on a mouse get a razer like xaveor was saying. From what ive read and ive used one they are AMAZING

I've tried most of the above, and it's totally a personal preference thing. But it can also be a game-changer in terms of play performance (and in terms of comfortable gaming and avoiding carpal tunnel syndrome...).

The factors I'd recommend are:
1) If at all possible, get your hands on the things in person in a Best Buy or Fry's or something before buying it. How it feels to you is hugely important and really hard to tell from an online description/picture or even a box. A great keyboard or mouse for one person might be terrible for someone else based entirely on hand size. Some functionality/button might seem really cool but in your hand, you'd have to do such pinkie finger yoga to actually hit that button that it's effectively useless. Or the rest position may be awkward such that your hand cramps after 10 minutes. I've had all these things happen.

2) Build construction is hugely variable. In my experience, Logitech > Razer > Microsoft > Steelseries > Belkin > Saitek. I've had both an early Belkin n52 and a Saitek commander (basically the "mini keyboard' deal) and the Belkin one was vastly more solid. Logitech makes one too, though, but I haven't tried it. Logitech keyboards and mice are the only input devices I've had that I've literally worn out (G15 keyboard ... a full inch strip of paint has worn down to the raw plastic where my thumb rested ... I owned/used a Marble Mouse FX for 12 years before decided I couldn't live without a scroll wheel). But right now I'm a Microsoft Natural Keyboard and Razer Mice (I use a Naga as my work mouse, which gets fun questions...)

3) To really get value of of these things involves some elbow grease in terms of mapping keys and setting up macros. I had a great setup on my G15 keyboard that includes NS->HT macros for druid healing that were hugely effective. But then I started spreading my gameplay across 3 different computers and used a different input device for each computer and so the whole "custom input stuff" was impossible to synchroize and I now have much more generic setups. Bottom line: you'll get the most out of these things if you're just using them on one computer and are willing to put in the setup/adjustment time to get them working usefully for you.

4) I still get outplayed by 12-year old tweens who are probably using netbook keyboards and touchpads, so as much of a difference as the above can make, they ain't magic.

My personal report card:

Great: Logitech G15 keyboard, Razer Naga mouse
Good: Razer Deathadder, Microsoft Natural Keyboard
Okay: Belkin n52, Microsoft Sidewinder, Razer Lachesis Keyboard
Meh: Saitek Command Unit, Steelseries WoW Mouse

I gotta say, the Warmouse is intriguing. If the joystick can be used as a/s/d/w replacement, being and to both move, point, and select using the mouse, while then leaving the left hand to execute actions, is very interesting. But it's almost like it's designed to do all of those PLUS execute commands with all of those buttons on the top. What's the left hand supposed to do? Type in the chat window and grip a Red Bull can, I guess?

I am kinda doubtful about whether all those buttons on top are usable or not. Training your index finger to point at a button might be doable, but index finger plus middle finger is doubtful. The closet direct competitor imo is the Naga which basically has a numpad setup under your right thing. Training your thumb to find distinguish between 12 buttons isn't automatic but Razer put ridges and becauuse it's just a grid, it's at least doable. But I've always had trouble with any kind of special top-mounted buttons, it's too hard to break index and middle finger from just focusing on left-click, ricght-click, scroll wheel. But maybe it's just me.

Next logical progression in this madness is a mouse with a small touchpad on top that is Swype enabled so you can "type" using your right hand as well, so left hand can focus entirely on, um, manning the TV remote? Cooking bacon? Doing algebra homework?

And by the way, Xymnas and I looked at the Belkin one at Best Buy. We didn't like it because it didn't feel very comfortable. And I definitely second the notion of going some where to actually touch one. I ordered a cordless laser mouse from Staples once and when I got it I was pretty disappointed. It was uncomfortable to hold... The next time I went to Best Buy and actually held a DeathAdder... I think I fell in love right away lol.

...2) Build construction is hugely variable. In my experience, Logitech > Razer > Microsoft > Steelseries > Belkin > Saitek. ....

I swear by Logitech mice. They are, to me, the most comfortable mice in the world... naturally I use an Mx518 (and have been using the same one for the past 5 years almost...).

During that time I have had a Saitek keyboard, a Logitech G15 and a Razer Tarantula keyboard. I used the Saitek until I retired it when I got my G15. I wore the paint off the G15 after 2 years and gave it to my brother, who still uses it and it is what I consider to be destroyed (it's one of those keyboards you don't wanna touch...). I then went to the Razer and successfully demolished that one in one year of regular usage and I'll never buy another Razer again (the random lockups it had were quite annoying too). Now, I am back to my old Saitek which has yet to have any paint rub off, and the backlights still work and there is nothing wrong with it.

Saitek products (keyboards) may not look the coolest, but from my experience they have great build quality and of course I'd recommend a logitech mouse.

Edit: the more I think about it the more I want a Logitech G110...

Wow. Just looked up the G110 on eBay and Logitech. Take a look at the price variance from the most expensive on eBay and the price from Logitech. Of Course there were cheaper ones on eBay, but that one sure caught my attention.

Reminds me of a quote wrongly attributed to P.T. Barnum, "There is a sucker born every minute."

im really considering a zboard atm but i want to actually feel one before i buy it just cant find any place that sells it lol

This is the one i have. Logitech makes great products for the most part. I use it for my cat dps spec cuz my bars are all sorts of weird. I should program number 2 and 3 for my shammy and tanky for druid.

I like it for DPS cuz it has everything in the palm of your hand. i have mangle/shred at my pointer finger cuz i use it the most...stuff like that is kinda nice to play with.

But like Xaveor said, i use it, but not to often. I just need to make the other 2 "saves" as my other characters...

But i like mine a ton!! Really easy to figure out how to use and install. User friendly =D

It also has a screen on the key-pad that shows your stats/whipsers for and to ppl/if your in a BG it will show your stats...Pretty cool stuff like that...and it has a backlight for you to see the keypads in night time!!!!!!

im really thinking of a logitech g110 keyboard... after looking at stuff with the zboard i decided the g110 would be nicer! now to get my dad on board

hahaha my dad play an mmo thats funny!
the only games my dad has ever played are madden and pirates (on the computer when he was in college and he got addicted and ever since refuses to play games like it)
also his left eye has a problem and sometimes stops working so he gets motion sickness from games that move around a lot

Definitely envious!

I'm not going to lie...this keypad is awesome! I feel like it helps with my dps a little also. I'm not trying to look on my keyboard and on the computer screen to find the buttons i need...i know where it all is on my hand...so i use it with my left hand and my right hand is for my mouse...=D i also have like my bags, character info, mounts, map on the keyboard also.

And it works for many other games other than WOW
