anyway to make it fun???

Not really, unless you like healing...

You can see how low you can let someone's life get before you heal them.

That is fun in instance runs.

try harder instances if its not fun or go do heroics with seriously undergeared people.

healing is fun when its dynamic and its a good instance or PvP healing is great too. it starts to get boring for me when its waay to easy.

Healers, Heal
DPSers, DPS
Tanks, Tank

Thats the way it is. I don't see any Tanks sitting there tanking and healing (although a pally tank may throw up Lay of hands, or a warrior may drink a health potion, thats really not a function of healing to call themselves healers). I don't see DPS doing dps and tanking (if they try, they die). And as a healer, I'm not DPSing (I may throw up a dot, or do a smite or even wand, but my over all damage done might be 10,000 in a raid compared to the lowest DPS of 800,000 so I'm still not dps'ing).

I liked healing on Oddbob for the stint that I made him a healer.

The only thing I did not like (which was rather major) was that I did not like having almost no offensive abilities. What was I gonna do, heal them to death? (I know, I know... I didn't know how to survive as a holy/disc priest in PVP. =P )

But, healing in a raid was great fun.

I should've looked, you are a paladin. Does it make a difference? You bet. I press more different buttons, make a multitude of diferent decisions in 5 minutes then some peple will make all raid long.

I have for tools at my disposal for healing:
Lesser heal
Heal
Greater heal
Flash heal
Binding heal
Prayer of Mending
Prayer of Healing
Circle of healing
Renew
Holy Nova
Lightwell
Shield

Add in, I have to manage mana that is time use of Shadowfiend and on which target, when to use mana potions, watch my own health as well as mana, watch everybodies health, maintain an eye on other healers mana to see if I have to kick in some support, and follow the rules of engagement on a boss. Just because I'm healing doesn't mean I'm immune to having arcane orbs shot up my nose by Void Reaver.

Healing is never boring for me.

yeah that is so true Aves,
I healed on my Troll Priest in MC for months and months and it was never dull. I healed on my Alliance Pally in MC for months and months and it was totally different story, I went from what you listed above to mashing 1 button over and over, with occasional 2nd button to force a crit now and then. If it wasn't for healing meters and trying to beat Avesther and Icthus all the time I would have fallen asleep I'm sure.

Pally healing is brain-dead boring from a gameplay standpoint, but the love of raiding and seeing friends stay alive can keep you going. Topping healing meters can bring some fun as well.

rofl that is funny

I had a lot of fun pvp healing with my pally, its much more interesting than PVE so maybe try some BGs when you arent doing an instance, find a big group of alliance fighting horde and try to keep them alive. One of my favorites when we ran guild premades was Nevi bombs, he would run into horde AOEing and we would try to keep him healed hehe, and rogue tanking, keep a rogue alive in PVP and they make one of the best tanks in a BG

That was when I had my pally specced for healing I mean, his healing is kinda weak for pvp as prot:P

Maybe I'm reading his message wrong but I think he's saying he can't do anything without a group, like solo. I'm sure it's much harder to do dailies and such speced holy but I really wouldn't know.

Yeah, usually him and I do them together, but he has much more time to play than me... His calling is to heal, he rocks at it, but he doesn't like it all the time...

Have you ever wondered why many of the healers in the guild roll DPSers?

I enjoy healing but rolled a mage so that i would also get the chance to experience the excitment of CC and DPSing in instances..

Healing is a party...well...that is what I most enjoyed before my Pally...now DPSing with my pally rocks...esspecially when every other hit is at LEAST 1300...

I actually kinda disagree with this thread, especially for hybrid classes (shammies, druids, pallies). Sure, your dps is weaker than a ret pally's. But gear makes as much of a difference as spec does, and nothing's keeping you from doing a lot of work on your gear.

There are very few healers in the guild who who do not have a single piece of PvP gear that would be an upgrade to their PvE healing, so any healer can hit the BGs and be working towards an upgrade. Many dailies do not depend on DPS and are the same for healers as any other class. Very few healers do not have a single piece of gear or enchant that money won't help them get.

Anyhow, the cool thing about being a hybrid class, though, is that you can get a set of DPS gear and a set of Tank gear and be semi-competent in all of those things. Look at things like the Class Gear Planner wow-loot.com and just start tracking down off-spec gear for you. Obviously you won't be getting any raid loot for your off-spec, but you can go for BoE, quest, and 5-man gear no problem. Since the Kara reqs are designed to be attainable with those three things ... you can get yourself pretty good DPS. And then once you have that, the dps dailies and grinding really aren't that bad.

Sure, you'll never have the DPS of a ret pally. But as a healer, you actually have some chance of getting a raid slot sometime in the near future ... so who'd you rather be? ;)

I don't have any problem either way. I love healing in raids and being a productive part of the team. Without each part of a raid functioning as a team, the whole raid bites the dust.
As a resto shaman, I do pretty well at dps for solo's too, I'm just impatient when killing things for quests.

I suppose everyone is saying that you should find your nitch and realize healers are very important.
